Debbie, I now also see why some incorrectly think that Olivier Daigre came from the region in France called "La Chaussee". the previous paragraph on Page 39 talks about families that came from this region. But it doesn't say the family Daigre came from this region. It states "Arriving in acadia during the latter part of D'Aulnay's administration were the following families: d'Aigle (Daigle, Daigre) , etc,.
D'Aulnay was governor of the small colony. He died of exposure when his canoe was stuck in the mud flats upriver from Port Royal (Page 35). Getting closer.... Thank, Mike Daigle
