YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Robert Dabney Sr., 87, who departed this life on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.

Mr. Dabney was born May 31, 1925, in Bellaire, Ohio a son of Robert and LeVira Walker Dabney.


He was a World War II Navy veteran.


He had worked as a detailer at Valley Pontiac, retiring after over 20 years of service.
Robert enjoyed fishing, roller skating, wood carpentry, listening and playing music, especially jazz.

He leaves to cherish his beloved memory two sons, Robert (Jocelyn) Dabney Jr. and James (Mary) Snipes; two daughters, Juadena (Wendell) Conley and Joyce Stewart; a precious friend, Aaliyah K. Fareed; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Carrie Mae Williams, who passed away Sept. 3, 2001; and a son, Clifford Dabney.

Friends may call on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home
