Robert D'Unger was my great grandfather. His father was Henri D'Unger who ran a mill near Hagerstown, Maryland and later moved to Pennsylvania. His mother was Sarah Speer of Pennsylvania. His second wife, my great grandmother was Laura Keene of Dorchester County, MD. Sarah Speer was the daughter of Robert Speer and Elizabeth Gailbreath of Pennsylvania. My grandfather, his first son, was Claude Vachel D'Unger who was born in Maryland. Dr. D'Unger was both a physician and a newspaper publisher. He moved from Maryland after teh Civil War to Duluth, Minnissota and later to Chicago where he had an office in the Palmer Hotel for many years. I can give you more information if you are interested.

Robert D'Unger was my great grandfather. He was born in Hagerstown, MD and lived in Cambridge, Dorchester County, MD, Baltimore Maryland, Duluth, Minn., and Chicago where he died. He was the resident doctor for the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. He had several children, my grandfather being Claude. Claude had two children, Robert d'Unger who spent most of his life in Boston and my mother, Josephine D'Unger Warfield who had ten children, seven still living. I would be glad to give you more information if you would like it. I have the names of his children and most of the names of his siblings. His father operated a mill near Hagerstown.
