Re: D'Esposito from Piano di Sorrento
My grandfather was born in Piano di Sorrento on July 30, 1878. His parents were Antonino and Maria Luigia Ponticorvo. He was in the Merchant Marine and came to the US in 1896. We understand he had some brothers and a sister, for sure. I have a picture of her and some correspondence. My sister actually met her daughter in 1962, but we have not been back. I would like to go to Italy next year and get more info. I have no records of them before 1878.

Re: D'Esposito from Piano di Sorrento
The only PONTICORVOs I know about are Fortunato and his daughter Maria Francesca. Maria Francesca was born in 1818-1819, so that would be before the people you talk about. Perhaps you sould write to Piano di Sorrento and request more info about your ancestors... then maybe we could make a connection.

Re: D'Esposito from Piano di Sorrento
My great-uncles have an uncle named Raffaele D'Esposito, which is the Italian version of Ralph. He was married to a Flora, according to my records, he was a jeweler, and lived in Coney Island when he first came to America.

I am not sure where my Grandfather settled when he first came to America. I wish I knew how to find out.
One would think that we are probably realted.

Re: D'Esposito from Piano di Sorrento
I just went back to this website. Haven't looked at it in months. My grandfather was born in Piano di Sorrento in 1878 and came to the U.S. in 1896. We understand that he had a brother whose name I thought was Ralph. He also had a sister named Sofia whom my sister visited in 1962. She was 72 at the time (Sofia). My grandfather's mother's name was Maria Luigia Ponticorvo and his father's name was Antonino. Do you have any similar info?
