I figure she was of noble blood in France at the time when the revolution was starting to heat up, so that must'nt have been very good for her. She was the youngest of what was probably a big family. She ended up marrying a Ship Captain named Bernard Paturel where they sailed away together into the sun set... ha ha ha! I try to make this all sound so very exciting when in reality, it isn't really is it?!!!

ok, well If you have any information on Julie (may not be Julie, could even be Josephine) D'Aigremont, or about a Bernard Paturel (Captain of a ship) that would be greatly appreciated!!! Info can be sent to me at strlett@hotmail.com

thanks a lot!

Jean-Pierre,

Forgive my French. My wife is a Belgian, and though she speaks French as it is her mother tongue, I have not yet learned.

My question to you is this: I have an ancestor, everyone says came from france, his name is William deGrummond. I am certain this is not the original name for this person. I am supposing that he is d’aigremont or some variant of deGramont, or Grammont.

The story goes like this: He left for the United States, Philadelphia in the 1770-1790 years. He married there to a Miss Julia Johnston. His child (perhaps only child) William was born in 1792. This son goes on to New York to fight against the Brittish in the War of 1812, then spends some time in the 1820s in Detroit. He also marries a woman from Canada. They have lots of children, one of which, I am related to.

There was also an article posted in the 1899 Detroit Free Press about some ancestors from France looking for the descendants of this person.

I hope you have some suggestions.

Now my version en Francias:

Jean-Pierre,
