Joseli, Our family is from Poland as well, from Krakow. I wonder about your family leaving to Brazil after the war. Czubaks are in the Ukraine and Poland originally, yet the name could also have Hungarian ssources form long ago. The name seems to be derived from a species of bird as described in Polish. What part of Poland did your ancestors come from? Marek

Hi my name is Anna Lyschyk, daughter of Gregory (Harry) Lyschyk of Quebec Canada. Gregory was born in Ukraine (possibly Poland) on January 1, 1922, passed away January 12, 2001. I cannot confirm your query about the Czubaks, however I am interested in learning more about our ancestry and maybe help in your search. Hoping for a reply soon, regards,
anna

Anna,
I don't know very much about the Lyschyk side, but here is what I do know:
Michael Lyschyk m. Catharina Fir date/loc unknown. The children they had (that I know of) are: Mykola (M), Anna (F), Justina (F), and Rosalia (F). Rosalia was born 1/27/1922, so it's unlikely Gregory is a brother to her. Possibly a cousin? Rosalia's maiden name has also been spelled as "Lyszyk" (she was married in Germany in 1949, the spelling might have been altered on the way)
Also, while my records list Rosalia's birth location as Sianok, Poland, my aunt has reported to another relative that her birth location was "Peremish, Sanok, Ukraine", so it depends while records I follow and who I listen to!
