HAMILTON -- The man who died in a fiery crash on Paxson Avenue Saturday night was identified by police yesterday as Wieslaw S. "Willy" Czuba, 42.
Czuba was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1989. He lived in Trenton and Hamilton Square since that time.
For the past seven years he owned and operated the Victoria Construction Co. in Hamilton Square.
He is survived by his wife, Renata Banach; a son, Bartlomiej Czuba of Poland; and two daughters, Victoria Banach of Hamilton Square and Anna Czuba of Poland.
Police said Czuba was driving home at 10:40 p.m. when he lost control of his pickup truck after it crested a small hill in the 600 block of Paxson Avenue between Robin Drive and Tar Heels Road.
Czuba, who was traveling north toward Mercer County Park, went over a curb and crashed into a tree in the yard of a homeowner, police said.
The crash occurred during the weekend's snowstorm and police believe the truck slid on ice.
Area residents heard the sound of the crash and hurried out to help Czuba, who was unresponsive. When smoke and flames appeared from under the hood, the residents frantically tried to break the truck's windows. One person even battled the flames with a kitchen fire extinguisher, but the heat became too intense for would-be rescuers to continue their efforts.
Although Czuba's family was still waiting for dental records to confirm his death yesterday, they had made arrangements for his funeral and had accepted his death.

Bartlomiej, I'm sorry to hear of your loss and also the way in which you learned about it. I hope that having the information will at least help you to heal. It is always better to have information, so it can be put to rest. I was reading the message, because I am looking for info regarding my great grandmother's family and they were "Szuba's" Her name was Marianna Szuba married to Jozef Duplaga. If you have anyone listed in you family, please reply. I am also looking for Gacek's, Kasprzyk's, Czuchra's & Buczek's from Nowy Sacz & Brzozow areas. MW Duplaga

Be sure to include the alternate surname's in your search for Kasprzyk's. Some of the Bay City, MI Kasprzyk's, changed their name to Casper/Kasper, and these Kasprzyk's married into the Bay City Czuba family.
|
Thank you, I was not aware that the Kasprzyk's changed the name spelling and I didn't know about the Bay City, Mi Kasprzyk's. My Jan and Anna Kasprzyk came from Nowy Sacz and Posadowa area, I think. Thanks for informaing me.
Do you think the Szuba's also changed to Czuba? Are there any other possible changes for this name? Do you know where the Szuba's may have come from. My GGrandmother was from Brzozow, Poland at least after she married into the Duplaga family. I don't know where she was born.

As far as I know, my husband's Czuba branch have always used and spelled the name as 'Czuba', pronounced 'chew-ba'. They are from Palesnica Poland.

Re: CZUBA, Wieslaw S. (1958)-2001
My condolences. May your dad rest in peace. God Bless.
My last name is Czub. But I have no clue about my relatives in Poland. My grandparent were Sophia Janiski and William Czub born in the 1909 and 1906. Again, I'm sorry for your lost.

I typed in my father's name in google and this popped out. It's been 10 years, but the pain hasn't diminished. Daddy's memory is still vivid in my heart and always will be. I miss Him dearly.
Victoria.
