Hello

I have an ancestor in Paris around 1830 called Leopold Choppick (depending of the paper the spelling varies a lot), officially French from Alsace province.
We have the proof that this identity is not totally true. We are sure he was jewish and we have good hints that his original name was close to Schopick and that he was coming from Central or Eastern Europe (probably former Galicia).

Of course, I can send any of my detailed genealogical data.
