YOUNGSTOWN - Carolina G. Czombos, 89, of the city’s west side, passed away Friday evening, March 21, 2014, at Valley Care Northside Medical Center.
Carolina was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Peter and Helen Rusenek Alhimook, and came to this area in 1946.
She worked for 12 years at the former Northside Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
Mrs. Czombos enjoyed working in her yard, and crocheting.
Carolina is survived by a daughter, Andrea Czombos, with whom she shared her home; and two grandsons.
Her husband, Andy Czombos, whom she married April 13, 1945, passed away July 15, 1998. Two sons, Danny and Paul Czombos, and a daughter, Carole Hofmann, also preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

AUSTINTOWN – Paul A. Czombos, 54, of the city's Westside, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home in Austintown, Ohio.
Paul was born in Youngstown, Ohio Nov. 11, 1957, a son to Andrew and Carolina (Alhimook) Czombos.
He was a 1975 graduate of Chaney High School and worked at Sorce, Inc. in Canton, Ohio for 27 years.
Mr. Czombos leaves behind two sons, Michael and Daniel, to mourn his loss. Paul's great sources of pride in his lifetime were Michael of Wilmington, N.C., and Daniel being a self-taught and highly talented musician and guitarist who resides in Cornersburg.
In addition to his sons, he is survived by his devoted mother, Caroline, and sister, Andrea Czombos, both of Youngstown, Ohio's west side, and his sister, Carole Hoffman from Charlotte, N.C. Also mourning his loss is his former wife, Debra (Mastrovaselis) Czombos Fulton.
Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel, a Vietnam veteran and his father, Andy.
Extended family and friends can pay their respects to Paul's family during a memorial service to be held Monday, May 16, at 5 p.m at the funeral home.
