Hello Wayne, Sorry, I couldn't find any connection between your family and my Chicago Czekala family. If you go to Rootsweb and go through the archives in Polish Roots, I'm sure your will find a lot of info regarding Poznan, etc. Good luck on your search.

Hi Gloria, The name Czekala/Cekala is Polish. Frequently is was misspelled by persons such as census takers. Sometimes one of the family members in the US decided to spell it phonetically. In Polish the name is pronounced cha-cow-a and written with a slash over or through the l making it look like the letter t. I don't know about the spelling of Wayne's name so there may be a connection to you. Hope this helps.

Hello Wayne!
Is there any chance that your Severin Czekala had a sister (or sisters) with one named Rosalie? My great-grandmother was Rosalie Czekala who married a Walter Kaczynsky. She supposedly came to the US, from Poland, before 1930, with a sister named Helen. She was to meet Walter in the U.S. My family was told that Rosalie's father was a Walter Czekala and her mother was named Anna (we don't know Anna's last name). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! -Barbara Petrov
