Hello,

I am searching for more information on Grzegorz Czech (born about 1871) and Marya Balik (or maybe Ballick) (born about 1877). Grzegorz (George) came to the USA before 1904 (maybe twice) while Marya (Mary) came to the USA with their three children in March of 1904 (via Baltimore). Their three children were Wladyslaw (Walter), Andrej (Andrew) and Stanislaw (Stanley) who were 6, 4 and 1 respective when they moved to the USA.

According to Marya's passenger manifest the family came from "Stary Zagorz" which I believe is near Sanok, Poland close to the Slovak and Ukrainian borders.

Eventually the family moved to Castle Shannon, PA, a town just outside of Pittsburgh and changed their last name to Checque. Additionally they had three more children Mary (born 1909), John (born 1911) and George (born 1915).

I want to find out more about Grzegorz and Marya as I do not have any information on their parents or siblings (or even if they have any siblings). Or just to hear from anyone researching their families. Thanks in advance. Jason

May I suggest you also post on Galicia's and Poland's board. A wider exposure should only help.

You're welcome Jason
Hopefully a wider posting [exposure] will bring more help or distant relatives.
I was trying to take a look at Marya's arrival manifest but have not been successful.
Might you want to give me a hint or provide an url to take a look.

You know that no BALLICK spelling will you find in Poland. That is for sure an Americanized version.

Dear Zlatica,

Marya Czech and her three sons arrived in the USA on March 9, 1904 through Baltimore on the S.S. Breslau. Listed as passengers 4, 5, 6, and 7. Here is the link from ancestry.com:

Thanks, Jason

Thank you Jason,
I found it. Don't know why I was looking for a Marya BALIK.
You did noticed that the children have a set of numbers and date as to suggest they were naturalized US citizen. Have you requested their intent and petition just for the fun of it, to have.
Yes, the location is written as Stary Zagorz.
