I'm told my g-grandfather Alexander Czebotar came from Russia/Belarus to France and then immigrated to America on a ship with Polish and married a Polish woman when he arrived in New York. I'm told Alexander immigrated with two siblings. Earned money working in New York and then bought a farm in Methuen Massachusetts. Also lived in Salem, Mass.? Possibly lived in nearby Orange Co., New Jersey. Moved to Baltimore, Maryland. e-mail white.horse1@juno.com

Hi Sharon,

I would check out some of the major genealogy search engines on the web such as Ancestry.com, Rootsweb.com, and ellisislandrecords.org You should be able to find some matches for the surname Czebotal. I don't know what the root word would be or maybe Czebotal is from a slightly different region in Poland/Russia/Ukraine/Belarus area. I'm told that Czebotar is pronounced something like "Cheboda" in that area. I'd be curious to find out if you are searching from America or the other side of the ocean. also where does your Czebotal family live? I would also make a search of US census records if your family lived in US in 1930 or beforehand. Good luck on your searching and I'd love to be of any help that I can.
If you are interested, my Czebotar ancestors came over in nineteen-teens from Belarus-Russia area. I live in Maryland now but my extended family is kinda spread out on the east coast. I've been in touch with other Czebotar families but not Czebatol so far.

Hi Sharon,

Just wanted to let you know that there were two people with the Czebatul surname who came to America from Poland in 1922. I would try any variant spellings that you know of.

Hope this helps,
Tamarah

Hi Sharon, As far as we can tell from our family records, Czebotar is the original spelling. It is Polish, but the family actually lived in Russia, what is now Belarus. I image it is possible that spelling could be different. Also, in that area of the world, last names have feminine and masculine spellings. Don't know it this helps you at all. Don you have any information on your family? Maybe I can tie it in with the information I have.

Hi,

My maiden name is Bujnicki. I don't know very much about my ancestors other than that my Greatgrandfather's name was Franc and his second wife was Martha Radzilowicz. According to Ellis Island records he came from Stasin. I was told that anyone with the last name of "Bujnicki" would be a relation.

Any information would be appreciated.

I have been told that we are cousins of the Bujnicki's in Massachusetts - particularly those from Gardner MA. Haven't been able to make the connection yet, but am working on it.
