I'm told my g-grandfather Alexander Czebotar came from Russia/Belarus to France and then immigrated to America on a ship with Polish and married a Polish woman when he arrived in New York. I'm told Alexander immigrated with two siblings. Earned money working in New York and then bought a farm in Methuen Massachusetts. Also lived in Salem, Mass.? Possibly lived in nearby Orange Co., New Jersey. Moved to Baltimore, Maryland. e-mail white.horse1@juno.com

Hi! My name is Aleksandra Czebotar. I read your message in
Ancestry and I decided to write to you. I`m 23 and live in
Poland. My grandfather, Leon Czebotar, was born in Belarus in
1920. I asked him about Alexander Czebotar, but he doesn`t know
anything. I don`t think that we might be related, but who
knows... Sorry for my english! I hope I`ll hear something from
you soon! Love, Aleksandra.

Hi Aleksandra,

It's really exciting to hear from you. I'm glad you took the trouble to post a message. Where do you live in Poland? Has your family always lived there? Do you have any other Czebotar relatives in your family and do you know if anybody you are related to ever came over to America? There are several different Czebotar families that live in the USA in different places and I've made family trees for the people that I know so far. I've heard the Czebotars live in Poland, Western Ukraine and Belarus. And by the way, your english was fine.

Please keep in touch,
Tamarah

Hi Tamarah,
thank you for your message. I`m sorry that I write so late, but I was on holidays and didn`t check my email box.I come from Zielona Góra (western Poland), but I study and live in Poznań. My mother`s family come from Poznań, so they are 100 % polish. The history of my fathers family is a little more complicated. As I`ve written my grandfather (Czebotar) comes from Belarus. And my grandmother from Romania ( but her mother was polish). I don`t know much about my grandfathers family, but I hope to see him soon and I will ask him. I never heard that someone from our family lives in the USA, but who knows...
Please write something about yourself: how old are you, where do you live etc.
Aleksandra

Hi Aleksandra and Tamara,

Aleksandra...I too am a Czebotar. My father (now deceased) knew very little about his father's side of the family due to a divorce. We do know that his father's mother only spoke Ukrainian. The family came to America from ?Poland ?Russia in the early 1900's. I am interested in knowing about your history. My aunt insists that the Czebotar name is of Polish origin.

I poped in to have some fun and find something about my familiy, and guess what? I see my sweet cousin already did it. Heh; she is always first ;). To all Czebotar's who don't know: "czeboty" means "shoes" in Russian (or Belarussian), so "czebotar" means shoemaker, cobbler. Now we all can see where we come from ;) Love you, Alexandra xxx

Hi Cindy,

I didn`t visit Ancestery for a long time - so it`s the first time I see your message ... Are you still looking for Czebotars?

Regards,
Aleksandra
