My family's name was also spelled Czajkowski & they too lived near Ternopil. They were from a town called Grzymalow, near Skalat, which is about 20 miles southeast of Ternopil. My Great Grandfather was Stanislaw Czajkowski, b 4-15-1887. He changed his name to Stanley Chaykowski shortly after his arrival. His parents were Michal & Sophie (Furtoch) Czajkowski. Michal was born 1861. Sophie was born 1871. Stanley had at least 3 youngersiblings: a sister, Marya, and 2 brothers, Walter & John. Not sure if any of this helps. I was hoping you might have some info on Grzymalow or Skalat and any Czajkowski relatives from that area.

Jeff, did any of your relatives marry a Jennie Chaykowski in Wayne Co. Michigan? My great uncle, John Trendel, married a Jennie. She later shows up buried next to him, but her tombstone reads Jennie Chaykowski instead of Trendel. I can think of a couple of things: 1) they never married, or 2) since he died young in 1940 and she died in 1975... she remarried after he died. Do you have any connections or thoughts on this?? Madeline

I have a relative, Jennie Czajkowski, that lived in Wayne Co., Michigan. She was born around 1919 in Pennsylvania. I have her husband as Stanley Navada (spelling?) but that doesn't mean she wasn't married before him. I don't know much else about her but do have names of siblings and parents. Could this be the person you're asking about?

When was your father born? Might he have had a brother named Antin, or Antonin? I've been told my great grandfather was from Lvov, but he may have also resided in Ternopil; he also did have four brothers, as well as one sister.

Antin (aka Antona or Antonin) Chaikowsky (aka Czajkowsky),was born 1884. I do not have his parents' names. However, family lore has it that he had "two Polish brothers and one Ukrainian brother," as well as one sister. I do not know the circumstances, or why the names are not remembered. Wagner may have been his mother's last name.

Antin married Michaelina "Lena" Saluk. Both emigrated to the US and died in NJ/Philadelphia, PA area and died in the 1970s. They had two sons and two daughters, one of whom is still living.

If any of this might fit, please respond.

Jennie Czajkowski was my grandfather's (John Czajkowski) sister. She was married to Stanley Nevada (I believe this was her 2nd marriage)and had three children, Patrick, Helena and the third was a daughter, but can't remember her name. They lived not far, maybe 2 or 3 miles, from where my parents lived in Dearborn, MI. I can't remember the exact street. I think that Helena still lives in her childhood/mom's house. I believe that Patrick is a child of the 1st marriage, and Helena and her sister are Stanley Nevada's daughters; but I'm sure about this. Stanley Nevada died quite young, leaving Jennie to raise the 3 kids.

I have quite a bit of information on the Czajkowski family. My grandfather (John) and grandmother (Anna) were married in 1915 in West Leechburg/Vandergrift, PA. They were divorced approx. 1931, and both remarried. I have communicated with Keith Carnley (probably 3 or 4 years ago); but would like to make contact with him again, or anyone else who is part of the Czajkowski family. I have a lot of information on my grandmother's side of the family, and would like more on my grandfather side of the family. Please email me at nanusha@aol.com
