My grandfather was born in Tarnow, Poland, April 7, 1894. He came through Warsaw to Germany and to New York about 1910. He was met by his brother Louie who was already living in Canada. He had a brother Joseph in Batavia, NY who was a painter and wall paperer. Joseph had changed his name to Chaya. His sister Mary was older and married a Wozniak. If any of the names or date sound familiar, please contact me.

It's been some time since you posted this meassage but I'm going to respond and hope you receive this.
Joseph Czaja/Chaya was my grandfather. He and he's wife Sophia Adamczyk Czaja came to the states is 1904. They lived in Batavia, NY and ran the Batavia Wallpaper and Paint Store at 329 Ellicot Street. They have two living children still living in Batavia, Gladys Balbick and Walter Chaya. When I was 8 or 9 I remember meetng Louie, who came from Toronto Canada to visit. If you get this please contact me at metro714@aol.com and I can put you in touch with my cousin who has a lot of information.
