I don't know where they came from, I just heard "Poland", possibly Poznan. I am looking for any help as to how to determine where they came from in Germany/Poland. I know which port they left from but how do you get info from city, etc. that they came from?
I also have other mysteries (see below).
They do not appear to have any other family members around them in census data, so I don't think they had relatives here; I could be wrong.
Arrival: May 18th 1867 at port of New York; departed from port of Bremen, Germany.
Ship: Bark Johanna

1870 United States Federal Census – Milwaukee, WI Ward 5
John Serulich age 28 (b: 1842) carpenter Prussia
Catharine Serulich age 30 (b: 1840) Prussia
Mary A. Block age 50 (b: 1820) Prussia – presumably Catharine’s mother
1875 Wisconsin State Census – could not locate them. I assumed them to be in WI at this time because they had two children born in WI around that time.
1880 United States Federal Census – Dakota Territory, Yankton
John Cerciclik (Cerulik) age 37 (b: 1843) Farmer Prussia
Katrina Cerciclik (Cerulik) age 30 (b: 1850) Prussia
Antonia Cerciclik (Cerulik) age 9 (b: 1871) daughter
Frank Cerciclik (Cerulik) age 5 (b: 1875) son
Marie Bloch age 60 (b: 1820) grandmother
1885 Wisconsin State Census – could not locate them.
1900 United States Federal Census – La Crosse, Wisconsin 8th Ward
John Cerulik (Cernlik) age 56 (b: 1844) carpenter claims year of immigration 1849 also claim to be married 31 yrs.
Katie Cerulik (Cernlik) age 53 (b: 1847) same immigration and marriage info.
The census data in 1900 seems to contradict what I beleive to be the facts.
John Cerulik died in La Crosse, WI in 1910.
Catharina Cerulik died in La Crosse, WI 29 Jan 1906.
They were Catholic.
Mysteries:
When John and Catherina Cyrulik arrived they had with them a Franz Cyrulik, assumedly a son(?). I have to assume that he died shortly after arriving as he is not in the 1870 census. Not sure where or when other than between 1867 – 1870.
I have been unable to determine when Catharina’s mother, Mary A. Block/Bloch arrived here or when/where she died. She’s with them in the Dakota Territory, but without 1885 Census (1890 Federal Census burned in fire), I have no clue where she might have died.
John and Catharina’s daughter Antonia AKA Tina, AKA Tena married a Louis A. Kuehn (Kuhn) in La Crosse, WI on 26 Apr 1893.
She divorced(?) Kuehn and married (?) a Valentine Konetchy/Konethke/Konetzky. Antonia died in La Crosse, WI on 05 Mar 1936.
Her obituary in the La Crosse Tribune states that her brother Frank (b: 1875 in WI), is in Denver, Colorado. I have no clue as to what happened to him after the 1880 Census. I cannot find him anywhere. All the Frank Cyrulik's that I've found seem to be a different branch.
Thanks.
