The where there was work.My great-grandmother was born there. Lawrence came to America first while his wife (Antonio)
was pregnant with 2nd child, when she came to America Zach was 2yrs old and Joe was 6wks but he died on the way over.
It's possible that there is brothers of Lawrence I don't have info

I am from the Surman family. I am so pleased to see this listing. My gr grandfather was Stephan Surma and I have been led to believe that Stephan and Antonia Surma are siblings. I have also located another sister,. Frances, who went to Wisconsin. Frances married a Kawlewski. Can you help me identify Antonia and tell me how many children she had with Lawrence Cyrulik. I think I have found Cornelia Augusta, Frances, Margaret, Christina Antonia and possibly Anna. I do not know what happens to Antonia after Lawrence dies in 1891. Did she remarry? I too have heard the Demick name mentioned with relationship to the Surmas. Their name becomes Surman when they are naturalized in Randolph County IL - some then go to Perry County (Pinckneyville). If Antonia is the Surma I have on my family history as Apollina, I have found another sibling. I would love to hear from anyone who can help me. Thanks.

Hello, I was so thrilled to get your message. I nearly fainted as I have been looking for info on Antonia for a very long time. Besides the children you mentioned for Antonia I know that there was also Frank born in 1873 married to a Lettie Rice (I have a copy of his obit) also there was Zackary Cyrulik (my gg-grandpa) he was married 3 times, his second wife being my gg-grandma. Julia Poninski --- Demick Cyrulik. She was also married 3 times her 1st husband I am not sure of hence the ---. I have more info on Antonia which I will post as soon as I dig it up.

Do you know any connections between the Surmans and the Matychowiak or Porter names? If so, I may have found a really important link in my tree. I will post more on this as a reply to your "looking for relatives" post.

Thanks for your message, I hope to hear more from you soon!
Kara

I believe your info matches mine. I was lucky to start this in the 80's, when I was able to get in contact with Eva who gave me a lot of info, she's daughter to Frances Cyrulik Novack. She gave me the siblings name and spouse. But also gave me
Antonia siblings that she knew a brother Steven, a sister Frances who married Joseph Kawleski(she gave me different spelling on that) and moved to Wisconsin. And someone who married Gockskolska? and moved to Chicago.
I haven't heard if Antonia remarried, but I do know that she stand with her daughter Frances when she died, she didn't have money, she sold her things she had to get Frank out of a gambling debt. I have not heard where she is buried at she died 11-5-1904,I thought she be buried with Lawrence. Need to find out if Frances moved from Chester,Ill (Eva said she was born in her parents home in Chester) She might be buried on their property.
Lawrence(1831-23Sept1891) and Antonia(1840-5Nov1904),
their children:
Zachary born 30 Apr 1863 Poland died 5 Aug 1940 buried Pinckneyville,ILL married Julianna Penenski
Joe born abt 1865 in Poland died 6wks old buried in Atlantic Ocean.
Frank born 29 Nov 1873 Buffalo NY died 23 Nov 1940 Pinckneyville ILL married Little Rice
Augusta b.11 Feb 1876 Randolph County,ILL died 27 Jul 1935
Wynne Ar married Joesph Hess
Frances b. 6 Mar 1877 Randolph County,ILL died June 1941
married Joseph Novack
Margaret b.1881 died 6 Nov 1939 married Ike Lollis
Christine Antonia b.9 May 1884 Pinckneyville,ILL died Oct 1975 (she died a month before my grandma died Leona Christena died 29Nov 1975) married Chris C. Bahr 1900 in Chester,ILL
Agnes Catherine b.1886 died 24Dec 1939
This is all I have,I did hear that there's a record of a child death
that could be Anna. IN St Bruno. It's great to hear from you Dortha
