Cyr-Houlton,Maine

I am hoping this rings a bell with someone. There were two brothers named Cyr. One was Laurence. The other I can only guess. They were born in Paris,France and immigrated into the St.John, New Brunswick,Canada area. Don't know when. Laurence was born approx.1856.He stayed in Canada and became a barber. His brother went to Houlton,Maine. The only clue to his brother's name,etc.. is that Laurence named his son George Theodore Cyr-b:11/05/1887 St.John,NB. I also have been told that Laurence's brother was also a barber. Any bells ringing or help from anyone??? Thanks, I would appreciate it.
Dorothy(A Cyr Descendant)

Alice married into Wheelock family. We are trying to find William's wife (Alice's mother) since we believe there is a connection to Maliseet tribe (who had many dealings with local French folk).
Looking for living relatives

I am looking for living relatives of Roger Cyr (bromptonville, Quebec Canada)...in particular any children or descendents of his brother Adeas. Adeas broke all contact with the family many years ago. My grandfather tried contacting him, with no success. It is a part of the family that has been greatly missed. I believe his last residence was in CT. Would also dearly love to hear from other relatives. All Roger's siblings are deceased and would like to learn more about the family. I do have old photos to share.

Saintonge links to Cyr in Gaspesie

My Saintonge/St-Onge ancestors lived in the Baie Chaleur region of Gaspesie, Quebec, beginning in 1779. This would include the cities of Carleton, Maria, East Maria,Pabos, New Richmond,Caplan,Campbellton,St-Jules,Miguasha,and Nouvelle. They settled into the existing population of displaced Acadians who had fled to and settled the region following the Deportation, and intermarried almost exclusively with them for the next one hundred years. My records show numerous links to Cyr's in this geographic region between 1779 and 1900. Does anyone have info linking a Cyr to any Acadian surname within 50 miles of Baie Chaleur within this time period, including but not limited to Saintonge's? I also have parish registers of Cyr's from this area that I will share with whoever wants them. NOTE: this Saintonge surname derives from Sainton, originating in Gascogne, France. It is not a "dit" derivitive based on the old French province of the same name.
Hello,

I have since found more ancestors and thought I would post the info here in case anyone is looking for it. For complete info, see my database on Ancestry titled "GREENWOOD". Marie Louise Stella Cyr's (AKA Stella Cyr) parents are Cyrille Emerand Cyr and Louise Josephine Biron, both from Sherbrooke, PQ. His parents are Joseph Prospert Cyr and Emelie Biron. Her parents are Michel Biron and Zoé Gendreau. I have a few more generations back on my database, but only the marriage dates are confirmed, I do not have info on birth or death yet. Will continue to update database as new info arrives and documents confirm dates and locations. Would love to hear from any "cousins".

Christine

Cyr Update

Hello - Since I have written last, I have discovered a bit of new info which I would like to pass on to you. Hoping to find someone with some relation, more info on the family and also, possibly help someone else who is researching this same line.

My great-grandmother is commonly know as Stella Cyr, or Mary Stella Cyr. I have discovered her birth name is really Marie Louise Stella Cyr. She was born in Amesbury, MA 18 Sept 1887, married Charles F. Greenwood in Amesbury, MA 26 Nov 1906. I have been fortunate enough to find a good deal on the family line using the Drouin books, fische and a few other books. What I have found are just names and marriages. I am looking to verify the info I have found, obtain copies of their records, find birth and death info, and the names of the other children. Here is the next two generations of Cyr's, and maybe this will help someone to recognize their own line and help me out.

Stella's parents are Cyrille Emerand Cyr, born somewhere in Quebec, Canada around 1849, and Louise Josephine Biron, also born somewhere in Quebec, Canada. Not sure of the year, possibly 1859. They had quite a few children in Amesbury, MA. I will list the ones I know so far: Marie Louise Stella Cyr, Victor Arthur Cyr, Wifred Rodolphe Cyr, Marie Angelina Cyr, Cyrille Edmond Cyr, Victor Emerelle Cyr, Albert E. Cyr and Rose E. Cyr. I believe the last two were born in Worcester, MA.

Cyrille and Louise were married 11 May 1877, possibly in St-Philemon Stoke, Quebec, Canada. Cyrille's parents are (Joseph) Prospere Cyr and Emelie Biron. Louise's parents are Michel Biron and Zoe Gendreau. Both sets of parents were married in Sherbrooke, Canada, I believe, around 1841 and 1845.

Anyone with relations or info on where I can obtain copies of birth, marriage and death records, please email me. Thank you very much!
Hello,
I am directly related to Cyr's from various parts of Maine. My grandmother, a Cyr had a skin disease causing calouses on her palms and the soles of her feet. My father has it, my only brother, a few aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was wondering if anyone else who is directly related to the Cyr family has seen or heard of it. It is called Keratoses Palmaris et Plantaris Familiaris or Epidermal Keratosis of palms and soles. There is no pain, no cures, and it just accelerates the skin production in those areas. Please let me know. OdiliaSumner@CS.com

I am looking for descendants of Damase and Dorimene Daigle Cyr. They immigrated to Bonita, Montana in the early 1890s where they had 7 children who lived. My grandmother was Ida (not the one born on the trail west, but my hunch is that she was a namesake) Geraldine. Sibling names I know are Severin, Victor, Emily. I have MT census records from 1910 show Dorimene as widowed, and having a grand-daughter, Marie, living with her. Thanks, Sharon Hansen

Fabien or Fabyan Cyr in Madawaska and Fort Fairfield, Maine

According to his daughters marriage record (Julia Cyr age 16 married Prince Page, March 30, 1867 in Fort Fairfield, Maine) he was born in Madawaska, ME where he was a farmer. Later he was (some office?? can't read clerk's handwriting) in Fort Fairfield, ME. The 1860 census of Fort Fairfield (Sansfield Plantation)has a Fabia Cyr age 25 living in Fort Fairfield, Me. sitting his birthdate around 1845.
It lists him as head of house but shows no wife. Six other people are living in the house including 10 year old Julia.
The 1880 census of Van Buren, ME has a Fabien CROCK (right age - wrong name) But I think this is the same man. The 1870 census has Julia Cyr living with her husband, Prince Page and two daughters. In the 1880 census Julia has disappeared, as has the oldest daughter. Prince now has a new wife, Carrie of Caroline. The youngest daughter Margaret (Maggie) is now living with John Cyr, Sopha Cyr and John Cyr's brother John Crock. (note different last name) She is listed as an adopted daughter.
Years later (April 1935) Margaret's death certificate shows her mother's maiden name as Julia Crock. Julia Crock is also the name of the 3rd (I think) wife of Prince Page. Her son Vaughn supplied this information and he may not have really known.
Is there anyone out there that can help me untangle this family??? Are these people all really related? What happened to Julia Cyr and her first daughter? Did Julia have any other brothers and sisters? Who were Fabien's parents and where did they come from? Who was and what happened to Julia's mother? HELP PLEASE!!!!! Thank you in advance. You can email me directly at fhb1bi@aol.com.

My great grandmother's name was Marie Cyr. She was born in Madawaska (either in northern Maine or the Canadian area). She married Alfred Charles Smith from the area. They had three children, Franklin John, Charles, and James (all family names) and moved to Hartford, CT later in life (where they both died). Has anyone heard of Marie Cyr. Unfortunately that is all the information I have on her. Any information would be wonderful!

Christine Smith
