My maternal grandmother (Laura Cyr) was related to Louis (Noe Cyprien)Cyr- her uncle, which makes him my great-great uncle. My mother told me about a statue in Canada and she also has a book written in French about him.

Just to let you know that I talked to my mother just a few minutes ago. She said that my great uncle Louis had two brothers that she knows of. Leon Cyr (my great grandfather and Napeleon Cyr. My grandmothers "real" name was Aurora, but was known as Laura by some. Her birthday was on February 2, 1902.

Thank you for replying. I do appreciate it.
What I do know about my grandmother is that she was born Rose Ida Cyr, to Cyr Cyr and ???
Lajoie. Don't know her mother's first name. She was born Aug. 22, 1905, in St. Basil, New Brunswick, Canada, and died April 5, 1965, from cancer, in Beacon, N.Y. She married Louis Edmond Gervais, in Presque Island, Maine, not sure of date, and had one son, my father, Louis Eugene Gervais in 1928. Her mother died when she was 2 yrs. old, giving birth to her younger sister, Ezlie, and she was raised by family friends with the last name of Michaud, in Canada. She had three brothers, whom were, Patrick, Emile, and Come, and some sister, Ezlie, Yvonne, Mary, Ann, and 2 others she had heard about as well as one or two brothers. The family was all split up after the mother's death and only the whereabouts of some were known. She was know by the name Ida and not Rose. She had the Guiness book of world records and would tell us that her cousin (it could of been her second) was the man listed there as the strongest man. When I can get the chance to talk to my father, his memory is failing, I will try to ask about him. If you have any other information, please e-mail me at zstangels@aol.com. I would appreciate any info you may have. Again, thank you so much for replying. Enjoy your day. I look forward to hearing from you. Janine

Hi Darwin. My father's mother was (Rose) Ida Cyr, born to Cyr Cyr and ??? Lajoie, in St. Basil, New Brunswick, Canada, 8/14/05. Her mother died when she was 2 yrs. old and she was raised by the Michaud family in Canada. She had 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Since they were all seperated after their mother's death, she was only able to find 3 brothers and 4 of her sisters. Her one sister, Yvonne, knows that 2 brothers and the oldest sister stayed with their father. I'll ask my father if he recalls her telling him their names. I don't remember him saying so. You may e-mail me at zstangels@aol.com and maybe we can find if there is a connection somewhere. Till later.... Enjoy your day. Janine

My uncle told me that Louis Cyr is a relative of ours. My grandfathers name was Walter Cyr. I know that our family was originally from PEI, by way of France

Hello
I am from Winnipeg, Canada and have just read your Coversations pertaining to Louis Cyr. I have Louis Cyrs Family tree and also am related to him. We share Louis Sire (Cyr) in the following manner; Louis Sire (Cyr) was born in St-Eloi, Dunkirke, Flanders, France in 1692 the son Of Jean Sire and Margeurite Rimbault. He did settle in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, Canada but during the disbursement by the English he fled to Port Lajoie, Ile Ste-Jean (present day Charlettown, Prince Edward Island. He only stayed there a couple of years and was granted land by Monsiuer Bonaventure. When the English persisted in getting rid of the French he took his family and fled to Quebec City where he died in 1757. He had 7 children, 4 son's and 3 daughters. His son Pierre Cyr married Margeurite Hebert in 1740 in Beaubassin, Acadie (Nova Scotia). Their son Paul-Pierre married Margeurite Daigle in 1753 at Port Lajoie. Their son Paul-Pierre born in 1755 married Francoise Pellerin in Becancour Quebec in 1782. They had a son Pierre Cyr who married Marie Gamache in 1805. Thier son Pierre Cyr married Euphorsine Girard. Their son Pierre married Philomene Berger-Verroneau and Neo Cyprien Cyr (Louis Cyr) was born October 10th 1863.
There are many other dates and relatives. I hope this helps you.

Thank you for the information. I am still trying to conclusively link my mother's family to Louis Cyr. My grandfather, Walter Cyr was born 14 AUG 1903. Do you have any information as to how that part of the family tree relates to yours?
