I am looking for information on any descendants of Henry Cyples (b:1829). I believe one of his children came to the U.S. in the early 1900's.

I am so pleased that someone else has an interest in the hisoty of the CYPLES family.

So fat there are only three of us and it will be nice to add a fourth.

If you are decended from Henry CYPLES (1829) then we will be distant cousins. This Henry was my third cousin from several generations back.

I connected Henry to the "master" CYPLES tree back in the summer of 2000. I have the birth certificate of his son Benjamin.

Benjamin was born on 20th November 1861 at York Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.

The birth certificate shows that as well as his father being Henery CYPLES his mother was Mary Ann Fradley.

I have seen a copy of Henry and Mary Ann's marriagve certificate which shopws that Henry is the son of Joseph CYPLES.

Census retuen togthers with the baptism records of St peters Parish Chrch show that Henry is the son of Joseph CYPLES and Rachel Westaby.

I have much more info (indeed I belive all CYPLES in the UK to be decended from the same person).

I am happy to share info on a like basis.

One word of caution, whilst most CYPLES in the US are related to the Staffordshire, England CYPLES a few are actually from German origin, this have been anglisised from Sipple.

Really look forward to hearing from you again. BTW Are you decended from Benjamin CYPLES or a brother that I am currently unaware of.

I was glad to hear back from you so quickly.

Here is what I know on my end. My great grandfather was Benjamin Cyples. I do know that he was from the UK as well as his son Charlie (my grandfather) who came to the US as a boy. I'm not sure exactly when that was though. I also don't know about other siblings of Benjamin. I remember seeing a trunk in the attic when I was young with Wolverhampton stenciled on the side.

At this time I am the only one here in Ohio with the last name Cyples although I have an aunt that was born Cyples but of course changed when she married back during WW II.

Any ideas on when Benjamin came to the US?

I have just started looking into this whole thing and I'd like to know there are others out there. I have found some with the Cyples name in NJ, but to my knowlege, no relation unless you might have other information.

Again, it was great to hear from you and I look forward to sharing what I know about this matter.

In 1881 Benjamin was living at an address recorded as:-

"Houses at the Top of Alma Street" in Wolverhampton. At this time he was employed as a "Shearer - Iron".

He is living with his parents and his sister Harriett who was also born in Wolverhampton.

These are the only CYPLES family who are living in Wolverhampton at this time.

All their cousins are still living in Stoke On Trent at the time.

The CYPLES name originated in Stoke On Trent in the 1600's.

My Great, Great Grandmother was Edna CYPLES, a fourth cousin of your Benjamin.

As far as the NJ CYPLES line is concerned, I am currently working on this. Current eveidence suggests that three seperate CYPLES families emigrated to NJ.

One of these was Edward CYPLES the brother of my GG Grandmother. He livied in Trenton.

Can you just confrim that your Charles CYPLES was born 6 Apr 1885 and died in 1967?

I also have some information from the Social Security Death Index which you may already have.

This shows a Lottie CYPLES (1889-1975) was she Charles wife?

There is also a Josephine CYPLES(1890-1979). Not sure who she is yet.

There is also info on a Dorothy CYPLES (1923-1963)

According to my Family Tree program, we are related as 7th Cousins.

Hello again Earl,

Let's see....Charles was born on April 6, 1885 and he and Lottie were husband and wife. They were my grandparents. I think I've heard of Josephine and will check the next time I speak to my aunt. I believe she lived in Columbus, Ohio and was my grandfathers sister but I'm not positive of that.

Dorthy was my mother, married to Charles (b 1920 - d 1965), son of Charles.

I do still live in Ohio, Cleveland to be exact.

I would love to know what happened to Harriett, Benjamin's sister. Did she move to the U.S. or stay in the UKK.? I am also not sure of the year Benjamin came here although I do believe my grandfather was a young man at the time.

I really do appreciate the help you've given me regarding the family name. Benjamin died when I was just a baby and I lost my parents very young and my grandfather too so family information has been hard to come by. I know that Benjamin was excited to have a boy born into the family to carry on the name, and since I have no sons it is good to know there are others to do this.

I will research Josephine Cyples and get back to you in this regard.

Do you know the reasons that Benjamin emigrated?

Just to give you some more background.

Your great grandfather Henry Cyples was baptised at St Peters Stoke on 2nd August 1829.

I have so far traced 5 of his brothers and sisters:-

Elizabeth, Isaac, Rachel, Herbert and John.

Henry's father was Joseph Cyples and his mother was Rachel Westaby.

Jospeh and Rachel married on 17th December 1826 at Fulford in Staffordshire.

Rachel died young and Henry remarried in 1843 at Cheadle, Staffordshire to Esther Salt.

You GG Grandfather Joseph was baptised in 1776 and made his living as a Potter.
He had at least three sisters. I don't yet know of any brothers.
Joseph's parents were Isaac and Elizabeth Cyples.

Isaac you GGG Grandfather was also a Potter and the son of two Cyples cousins who had married.

Isaac was the grandson of my own GGGGGG Grandfather John Cyples who is of course also your GGGGGG Grandfather and where we share the same ancestory.

Can I ask a few questions about the Cyples family in Ohio?

1) Do you know the name and maiden name of Benjamins wife?

2) Could you tell me Benjamins date and place of death?

3) Do you know what Lottie's maiden name was?

4) Could you tell me your parents dates and places of birth?

I would love to add any other information about the Ohio Cyples to my family tree.

Benjamin travelled to the United States in 1904. He sailed from Liverpool on the ship Campania. He arrived on 20th February 1904 and passed through Ellis Island. The Ellis Island records show that he was already a US citizen in 1904. The full Ellis Island record reads;

I am not sure where I fit into the family tree of this surname. I live in Canada on the west coast. I was born 4 April 1962. I take it I have an english background. This is the first research I have ever done on my background.

Nice to hear from you. A number of branches of the Cyples family immigrated to Canada. Cyples is English in origin and the first recordings of the name in this from appear in Staffordshire, a county shire in central England.

If you give me your grandparents (& great-grandparents) names I will see if I have anything on your ancestry.
