To Debbie Coggins,
The only name on that list that's familiar is Edward Cyphert. My father had an uncle Ed, his wife's name was Gwen. She may have been his second wife. Their only child that I remember was Harold.

Do you believe they were from the New Kensington, Lower Burrell area around Pittsburg?

Hi, I believe our Cypherts are related. I have a Lewis Cyphert that may be my grandmothers father. Her name was Adda T. Cyphert. I have recently acquired a family photo that has Lewis Cyphert, Edward Cyhert, Margaret (Cyhert) Erb, Calvin Cyphert, Juniaetta (Cyphert) Erb, Milton Cyphert, Suzie (Cyphert) Bailey Wolfe and Rebecca (Cyphert) Baker. It is a studio photo and all of the children are adults (as in older than teens but not OLD) They are the half brothers and sisters of my grandmother. She kept in contact with Suzie and is listed with them in the 1900 Westmoreland Co PA census. According to my cousin in New Kensington, Lewis remained in that area and and I think may be burued in Lower Burrel. Do you know what happened to Lewis's wife Harriet?

It looks like we are related. In one of my father's bibles, my grandmother, Etta Cyphert Erb, wrote Harriett's birth year and date year as 1855 and 1913. She also wrote the name Lewis off to the side of Harriett and Lewis' names. I'm sort of assuming that was her maiden name. I'm pretty sure we have the same photograph. The one I have is the same as the one you describe. Generally, all of my father's family live in the Lower Burrell and New Kensington area.

I only started researching this information in the last 3 or 4 weeks so I don't have very much. My dad says he remembers that Suzie owned a big restaurant. That his Margaret married, he believed, a Rosenberger, that Clodie (Oddie) was a dentist. Does any of this sound familar.

My father was the only one of his family to leave Pennsylvania. We live in Georgia, so it's hard trying to get any information, and since I wasn't around my grandparents very much as I child, I don't have much to go on.

I'd like to keep in touch. Look forward to hearing from you.

Yes, Debbie were are related. I remember Aunt Suzie, I only wish I had been into genealogy at the time. I am only researching part of the Cyphert line but it is all tying together, slowly but surely. Don't give up, it takes time and a bit of luck. If you search and search and only find 1 new fact, that is a good day and be pleased. Please send me your email address, I'd like to stay in contact.
