Re: Cyphers / BRYAN in New Jersey
I don't know the names of the parents of Hannah Bryan, but I do that she was born July 21, 1798 in Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey.
The following is a list of all her children:
Richard Born January 15, 1818 in Greenwich, New Jersey
Ruth Born August 25, 1820 At the time of her death her name was Ruth Yard. She died October 13, 1856
Andrew J. Born February 11, 1826 Died May 4, 1826
Hannah Born February 11, 1826 Died May 11, 1826 Emily Taylor Born in Kingwood Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey
Eliza N. Born March 15, 1829
Jacob Born September 8, 1831
Manuel Born September 27, 1833
Maybe one of her sons was named after her father.
My husband is a ancestor of Emily Taylor Cyphers. The above information was found in the back of a frame holding a picture of Emily. It was written on stationary.

Re: Cyphers family in New Jersey
I have data going back to a Philip Cyphers, Jr. who was born in Greenwich, NJ in 1793, is he a brother to your relative? I have a Philip Cyphers Sr, born in Belvidere, NJ listed as his father. My lineage forward is through George, Ashley PA, John, Stroudsburg PA, to Harry, my father, in Warrior Run, PA.
Have you been able to trace the Cyphers name back any further, across the pond?

Re: VERY LARGE CYPHERS FILES!!
To Richard Mueller: I am not sure, but I think we may be related. I am still trying to figure out how. If you go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/lewisbios/cyphersharryw.ht... and you can link yourself to this person and his family than we are connected. Harry W. Cyphers was my 1st cousin 3x's removed, I believe, and Michel Seifers was my gggggg grandfather. I still have lots of research to do but with the help of my uncle I am slowly putting my history together. . Any information you can help me with would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to connect to the name Capt. Joseph Lee born in England 1740 and married to Elizabeth Cyphers, sister of Peter Cyphers who was also in Joseph's regiment. Any information on this gentleman?

Re: VERY LARGE CYPHERS FILES!!
I would be very interested to know more about the Cyphers family, There are Cyphers families in Texas and I have been researching since 1984 and I have not been able to come up with anything solid except the name is Dutch, They came to Texas from where? Anna B.Cyphers is buried in Moore Cemetery, Arlington, Texas years of birth 1880-death 1963, then there's Audrey Faye Cyphers buried in Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, Okla. born Feb 25, 1932 was married to Herbert Delman date of birth 7-17-1928 died 5-13-1983. Can you shed any light on the Texas Cyphers family. Thanks

Re: VERY LARGE CYPHERS FILES!!
I have tried to communicate with the author of this post for a very long time but have not rec'd any response. I know that Mr Mueller has passed away and someone is continuing the research. I am looking for my great grandfather Sam Syphus, who seems to have dropped off of all research. In 1880, Emily (Ellison)Syphus shows up on the Census in Lockhart,Tx, Caldwell County with her son Sam, James Wallace or Walker and Queen Wallace or Walker but no Sam the husband. But marriage records indicate that they were married July 14, 1871. I know that he was born in Alabama, but I find not record. When I first started the research information I rec'd said that he was from Pennsylvania and that the name is of German descent. Do you have any information at all regarding him? I would appreciate anything you may have. Thanks so much Geraldin Cyphers-Marshall
