My gggrandmother was Sofia Cypcar(z). She married Josef Tarnawczyk in the Ruthenian section of South Poland circa 1880. Sofia's father was Stanislaw Cypcar who married Petronela ______.
Where in South Poland are your Cypcars?

Big family Cypcar live in city Krosno now. Before 1998 in Krosno live 88 persons in this surname, 11 in Walbrzych, 8 in Przemysl and 8 in Katowice region. Interesting information is that in Krosno live about 58 person in surname Cypcarz, other Cypcarz families live in Katowice (6 persons), Nowy Sacz (6) and Tarnow (5). Is propably that this families have one genealogical connection in medieval time in (or nearest) city Krosno.

Dear Dariusz, Thank you for the reply.
I just looked on the map of Poland to find the location of Krosno and its proximity to Wolica. My guess is that these two places are about 30-40 miles apart? There is a good possibility that someone there could be connected to Stanislaw Cypcarz and his daughter, Sofia.
Are you related to them? Are you in Poland?
You may e-mail me privately if you prefer.

In Poland are 24 villages named Wolica http://www.pilot.pl/index.php3?Z_CITY_NAME=wolica&form_t... and Krosno is in Podkarpackie region, nearest Krosno is village - Wolica (podkarpackie, n. Sanok). I live in Poland but I am in other family with simmilar surname to you. I have one e-mail contact with famly Cypcar from Krosno. I may ask about Stanislaw and Sofia. Please send to me private message and I give you a link to my family webpage and e-mail to family cypcar.

Yes...Wolica near Sanok. I believe it was #9 on the map which you linked to me.
The earliest child that I have found for Sofia nee Cypcarz and Josef Tarnawczyk was born in Dec 1878 in Wolica. If I can think of anything else that I might have, I will surely let you know.

Hi Mike,
I'm glad you've found our very small message board. I hope we can all help one another learn more about our ancestors.
Are you just beginning your genealogical research? Who was your father's father, and where was he born? Does he or your father have any siblings? Please, tell us more.
I am afraid that I know very little about my father's father's mother's mother, Sofia Cypcarz. I know she was "from" Pobiedno (near Sanok) and that she married Josef Tarnawczyk and they resided in Wolica. Sofia's father's name was Stanislaw Cypcarz, and he married a Petronela.
That's it on my end for now. Please, post what facts you have so we can see what you have to work with.
Again...welcome, Kim :)

Hi Kim;
Thank You for the warm welcome to the website. I know very little about my father's past, also. All I can remember is from bits and pieces I heard when I was a kid. My dad's father died when my dad was an infant. My dad's mom was named Katherine Cypcar (I think, in Polish, it was Katarczyna) My dad's mom died when he was 9 years old, thus, he became an orphan and went to live with his aunt (Katarczyna's sister). Unfortunately, I can't remember the aunt's name. I know when I was a kid, my dad used to still write to his aunt. Unfortuantely, my dad is dead now, and I can't get very specific information.
I have looked at many websites for Sanok, Poland, hoping I would find something that would give birth, cemetary and emmigration records. Unfortunately, a good number of the websites regarding Sanok, Poland are in the Polish language, which I don't speak. For someone who does read and write Polish, this may be a good starting point. Perhaps he or she might be able to help the rest of us Cypcars also.
Thanks again Kim, Hope to hear from you really soon, Mike Cypcar
