Looking for info on cynova line in Nebraska who emigrated from Poland. Great grandmother was Rosalia Cynova, her parents came from Northren Poland which was a part of Germany at that time I believe. Kashubian spelling may be wrong, Rosalia married Frank Bonczynski in NE, both died/buried in Sherman County. They might have been from the Town by name of CEYNOWA. Frank BONCZYNSKI also came from same part of Poland.

I don't know if we're related, but I have Ceynowa's in my family who came from Danzig, Germany. If you look on familysearch.org and search CEYNOWA, there is a Rosalia Ceynowa who was married in 1824 in Putzig, Westpreussen, Preussen. Hope this helps!

Thank you for noticing the Rosalia Ceynowa. It does not seem to be the one I'm searching for. But, may may a cousin or Aunt, it seems the names keep circulating in families.
My Rosalia was from the Dittlef and Lifs parents name. But, good news I also put into again as I redo the names quite often thru the webs and BINGO came up my Andrew and Rose (nickname of #2 Rosalia.) Married 1855, Poland plus my Adrew was born 1831 so two Bingos. Thanks again. My Ceynowa's came from the northern Kashubian providence where a little fishing town is called Ceynowa on old Maps near the base of the finger like pennisula. And from perhaps too from the town of Gdanz where there is a street by the name of Ceynowa. talk again soon.

How wonderful that there is a fishing town in the peninsula of Poland called Ceynowa, and a street in Gdansk! Do you have any documents of these, such as a map or anything? Or where I might track them down?I'm having a hard time finding them. I'm still trying to pinpoint the town my relatives are from. Their death certificates say Danzig, which is now Gdansk, although that is such a large area. One military record we have says Lobientitz, although we do not know the Polish name of the town. Thanks for the info.

The earliest Cynowa that we have record of coming to America was in 1880, Xavier Cynowa. His parents, Michael and Barbara followed in 1881. We know they are from Danzig (Gdansk), however that is a big area. We also have seen Neustadt (now Wejherowo) on some records. So we are still trying to pinpoint exactly. We are going to try looking up parish records on the LDS microfilm collection. Thanks for the tip on the maps!! Very much appreciated.

I have never spoken to Paul/Kay Cynova from Nebraska. My Dad may have. He is the one who did a lot of research on our family tree. I am now helping him. A good place for a lot of wonderful information is the 1910 federal census. We found out what year some of the children came to America (some came before and some after the parents). We found out how many total children were had and how many were still living, occupations, whether they spoke English, and on and on... VERY interesting. Where did your relatives go when they arrived in America from Poland? Mine settled in Chicago.

Hi, My relatives did reside in Chicago for awhile. I believe two children were born there, The family then moved to Nebraska in the Howard Co area. Many Polish people settled there. cemetery Headstones are in Polish. We must have a connection in lineage somewhere. Both towns you mention are also in my lineage. Wow, I don't know a whole lot about the Polish line. Just that my gggrandfather was Andrew Ceynowa, his siblings and parents ? He did have a twin that died shortly after birth, named Anton.
Andrew's PoLish name was Andreas Henry. Let me check notes I have again to see if I have missed anything.

If your Cynowas were in Chicago for a while, if you give me their names and years they were here, I will look on my census information to see if I have their records. We copied some information on Cynowas/Cynovas that weren't our direct relatives while in America, because we figured they could possibly be related from Poland.
