Re: CYMBALISTY, Omelian and Domka
My Great grandparents were also Omelian and Domka Cymbalisty through their son Michael Cymbalisty (brother to Michalina). Michael was born Nov 21, 1892 in Hlubichok. They came over on the Palatia April 29, 1899. Omelian was born August 1854 Hlubichok, Borshchiw d: April 29, 1923 married to Dominia Remenda (Domka) b: 1861 d: Aug 23, 1940. I have Michalena's birthdate as Oct 20, 1895 Hlubichok married to Tomko Derkatch b: Aug 8, 1886 married Feb 1, 1910. By obtaining the death certificate of Omelian Cymbalisty I have determined that Omelian's father was Nicholas Cymbalisty and his mother was Katherine Sakundiak. Unfortunately, Dominia's death certificate was unable to provide me with any parents information. Love to discuss this family further with you, however, if you are unable to reply to e-mail within the next few days I will be unavailable for quite a number of weeks. Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: CYMBALISTY, Omelian and Domka
My grandmother was Alexandra Cymbalisty who I believe is the sister of Michalena. She lived in Canora, Saskatchewan and was married to Kost Sklaruk. Her parents were Omelian and Domka (Remenda) Cymbalisty. Her sister Lillian, the youngest of the family, (married to Wasyl Petriw) also lived in Canora. Lillian died on March 11, 1990. Names of the brothers and sisters (all deceased) are: Anton Metro Mike Adam Nick John Steve Ann (Wasyliw) Alexandra (Sklaruk) Julia (Stevens) Mary (Homeniuk) Lena (Derkatch)
Hope this is of some help.

Re: CYMBALISTY, Omelian and Domka
Hello Linda -
Yes, your Alexandra is sister to my great grandmother Lena! Thank you for the extra information; I had none on Alexandra. The names you listed - are some of those 'nick names'. The number matches what I have (13 children) but some of the names don't match up, unless you figure them as nicknames. Adam - Domaine Dmytro - Metro
Does that sound right to you?
I'm very please to connect with another 'family' member!
Kind Regards,

Re: CYMBALISTY, Omelian and Domka
Yes, you are correct. The names you identified (Domaine vs Adam) and (Dmytro vs Metro) are the same people. Adam was a Chiropractic doctor in Canora and Yorkton, Saskatchewan. I knew all of this family with the exception of Lena. There are still quite a number of Cymbalisty family members in the Canora and Yorkton area. I am including 2 photographs. One is of my grand-mother Alexandra and I beleive your great grand-mother Lena when my brother brought Alexandra to Seattle to visit Lena. The other photograph is my great grandmother Domka (Remenda) Cymbalisty along with my other great grandmother Sklaruk (mother of Kost Sklaruk). I am not sure who is who in the photo, however I have an aunt who should be able to identify them. I remember in the late 50's or early 60's that a grandson of Lena visited my mother (Olga (Sklaruk) Kopylchuk) in Yorkton but do not remember his name. Hopefully this helps in your research.

Re: CYMBALISTY, Omelian and Domka
Hi Barb
Unfortunately, I have not been able to bring up the pictures, I expect that you have just posted them. I think I know your parents. Are your parents' names Emil and Ann Cymbalisty from Yorkton? My maiden name was Kopelchuk. My Mother;s maiden name was Sklaruk. Her Mother's maiden name was Cymbalisty. That I believe is our connection. If your brothers names are Bob and Glen. I knew them as small children. I also knew Mike and Anna Cymbalisty who were my great Uncle and Aunt. Keep in touch.
