I also just started doing reserch on any Walkush names I can find. My great-great grandfather was John Walkush. He came to the U.S. in 1873 with his first wife Barbra. They settled in Berlin, WI. Their children were Joseph, Anna,[my great grandmother] Frank, Lussie, Rosa, Celia, John, and Michael. John died in 1923 at about 88 yrs. It looks like he out lived 3 wives. John Walkush, Joe Walkush, and my great grand father Frank Hallman [married Anna] all became U.S. citizens on Sept. 21st 1906. This was maybe to purchase the home farm on Oct.3rd 1906. I bought the farm in 2003. So it has now been in the family 100yrs. This is how I got wrapped up in this stuff. It is very possible that some of the Walkush family moved to the Stevens Point area. The north railroad ended in Berlin, and there was a steady stream of people and supplies heading into that area from Berlin. This is only the begining. Other spelling I have found on gravestones have been, "Wolkosh", "Walkusch". Hope this helps a little.

Surnames: Walkush / Walkusz
Thanks Peg for your e-mail about the Walkush / Walkusz surname. I've worked on this line off and on over the years.
My husbands line is Joseph Walkush/ Walkusz who settled in Portage county with his family from his first wife, and with his second wife Antonia Tryba. Joseph' son August is my husbands grt. grandfather. He married Katherine Cychosz. His brother Charles married Katherine sister Frances.
August and family pretty much stayed in and around Portage county, Charles and family moved to Ashland where his in laws were living.
I just recently found both marriages in Poland of Joseph, first to Marianne Kropidlowski/ Kropidlowska and then to Antonia Tryba.
I wonder if Joseph and your John are related in some way ?
Would be interesting to find out.

First is the Cychosz name my great great grandmother was mary Cychosz who married Leon Davidowski, they were from the bevent area. I also noticed the name Walkush my I have a Martha and Anna Davidowski who both married a Walkush. Martha married Alex and Anna married Joseph Jr. I would appreciate it if you have any information on this.

Thanks

Surnames: Walkush, Davidowski
I know that you wrote this post back in 2007 but I see that you have the Walkush name in you ancestry. My great grandfathers sisters both married Walkush's. The Walkush they married were from Joseph Walkushs second marriage to Antonia Tryba. Their sons Alexander Walkush married Martha Davidowski and their other son Joseph Walkush Jr. married Anna Davidowski. I would like to share information with you if you would like to. Alexander and Marthas son lives right down the road from my parents, I have asked him some information in the past and he seems to know the family relatives well. I also saw that some of the Walkushs married cychoszs my great grandmother was a cychosz her father was Jhon Cychosz and his brother married another cychosz with her father being Albert.
