Donna you asked, I think, if I was related to any Cwynars in the Scranton area. I know my uncle Ron has told me there are some distant relatives there. My grandfather's name was Theodore and he had a sister Laura. I am happy to report that the Cwynar clan is growing in Pittsburgh, my brother Todd just married and his wife's name is Jamie. We welcome her to a lifetime of correcting the pronunciation of the Cwynar name! Congratulations to Todd and Jamie Cwynar!

Stacey,

Are you by any chance related to the Cwynar's that lived in Wilmerding? My grandfather was Frank Cwynar. His siblings included Ted and Laura as well as Stanley and Henry.

Hi! My grandmother, Florence A. Cwynar, was born in Connellsville, Fayette Co., in 1904. Her father came from Poland, and her mother was nee Rataczjak and born in Beaver Dam, WI. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Surnames: Cwynar
There are Cwynars in Monaca, PA; and in New Castle. My grandfather was John Cwynar. He had 4 sons - Leonard, who was killed in Anzio in 1944; John Walter, my dad (1925-2003); Ted, my uncle; Alfred, my uncle. They were born in Hamtramck, MI, and moved to Aliquippa in the 1930s. They are related to some of the Cwynars in New Castle - Joseph, Josephine, Bernice. Bernice is still living. Josephine married Frank Kendrall. She died in 2005 and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh with her husband. She has a son and 2 daughters. They all live in the DC area.
