Thanks for getting back to me. My people are from a village called Brzyska Wola. Is that where your father is from?

I've just finishing checking with my sources. None of your names are familiar to anyone here. I'm sure there is a connection since my father's Cwikla family lived in Kurylowka, a short distance from Brzyska Wola.

Unfortunately, unless there are church records available from the LDS, we probably won't be able to make the connection. I've searched through the LDS records for Debno, another town that is nearby and Cwikla does not show up there at all.

The town of Oszanna, also nearby, has been filmed by the LDS. There is a chance that some of the records may be there, but I haven't had a chance to check those out yet.

My grandmother was Anna, daughter of Mihailo Cwikla. She married Nicholas Dutko. Anna was one of about six children. Many family members apparently went to and settled in Connecticutt, but I really don't know anything about the family there.

If you get any other information, please pass it along.
Happy hunting,
Jane

If I graduated from Bethlehem Catholic in '72 that would make me an old person!! So I need to be careful how I answer that.

Yes - Bethlehem Catholic - 1972. That's me.

Are you Tom Schell - twin brother of Dennis, from Whitehall, PA?

So..........Janye...... well......what have you been doing since 1972?!!! My guess is that you are happily married with 2 kids maybe 3 but less than 7! I have a son Michael (15) and a daughter Stephanie (13). I was divorced a few years ago.(She was greek maybe that was the problem!) I live in Midland Park, its in northern NJ, It's about 1-1/2 hour drive from the Lehgih Valley. Dennis lives in Northampton, they have two small boys, Kendrick and Eric. His wife Meg (Begovich) went to Beca, she knows one of your sisters (sister #4?), Meg probably graduated around '79. (She is 1 of 4 sisters that went to Beca). My parents still live in Whitehall and are self sufficient at age 83, knock on wood. My employer is a large chemical corp. in Wayne, NJ. I have been there 20+ years.
Let's see if I can remember the batting order in your family: Carol (Harry), boy?,boy, you, Rita, Nancy???, little brother, is there a frankie? Fathers name Frank, I can't remember your mother's name or your german shephred! That house was on one steep hill.
I just purchased a season pass for Blue Mountain Ski Area, Dennis and Meg live right near near there. I''ll be in Whitehall starting in November to visit family and ski.
Answers to other questions that you haven't asked yet:
1. Yes my brother finally got rid of the aqua green Ford 2-door Maverick hatchback (with the stick shift that gets in the way) after putting 1 zillion triillion miles on it.
2. Terry Walsh is alive and well, he lives with his family near Dennis.
3. No I never went to any Becahi reunions. I don't know why!
4. I do have an email address it is: tschell@ispcorp.com that you can reach me at instead of this #%&* site since my surname is NOT Petko. I even have a telephone no. I can give you!
5. It would be cool to meet up with you sometime.
I hope your family is well. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Surnames: Bazan, Borek
I noticed that you mentioned the village of Brzyska Wola in your post. My great-grandmother, Jadwiga Bazan, was from Brzyska Wola, near Lezajsk Kurylowka, and Sieniawa in Southeastern Poland, about 30 miles from Ukraine; formerly the Galicia region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Jadwiga had a relative (probably some degree of cousin) named Nellie (surname unknown) who married a Joe Cwikla and lived in, or around, New Haven, Connecticut. Nellie and Joe had at least four children: Joseph, Albert, Delores, and possibly Bernice. I am not sure what side of the family Jadwiga was related to the Cwiklas on; her father was Wojciech Bazan and her mother was Maria Borek. Jadwiga Bazan ended up living in Hadley, Massachusetts, being married to Marcin Kostek.

P.S. My grandmother apparently has some pictures of these Cwikla relatives. If you are interested in seeing them I could scan them and E-mail them to you. I was also in Brzyska Wola two months ago, if you are interested in seeing pictures of the village.

Thank you for your response. I've been checking my sources here and unfortunately, I can't make any connection with the Cwikla info that you sent. That doesn't mean there isn't a connection, just that I can't find one.

I know that my great great grandfather, Mihailo Cwikla was from Ozanna, another local village. He married Anna Klubko from Kurylowka. Their daughter Anna Cwikla was my grandmother. Anna was one of five daughters. She married Nicholas Dutko also from Kurylowka.

Wonderful that you were able to take a trip to Brzyska Wola. I would very much like to see some pictures.

Thank you again!
