Hello Erica,
I'm from Croatia but my father is from Slovenia, from the village of Zamostec.
I don't know who are Mihael and Joanna but probably their and mine ancestors were related. Later Cvars become different families.
Anyway I wanted to let you know that village Vasslatink you mention is now in Slovenia (part of ex-Yugoslavia), not Austria. In 1882 this was Austria, but it is a separate state now called Slovenia.
Vasslatnik still exist and it is called Slatnik ('vas' in Slovene means village), so translated to English this would be 'The village of Slatnik'.
Slatnik is located in part of Slovenia called Dolenjska, in Ribnica County. Ribnica is a small town. It would be interesting for you to know that today's major of Ribnica is a man with name Joze TANKO.
Zamostec is in the neighboring county of Sodrazica.
Here are some web sites you may look at to find out more about Ribnica and Dolenjska:

dolenjska, ribnica, kocevje, sodrazica
To find out more about your ancestors the best would be to contact local parish church. I don't have the address and contact numbers, but I'm sure you can find something on the web site or you can contact somebody from this web site (
http://www.ribnica.si/)
Hope this helps.
