Does anyone have any information on this individual? I have a recent picture of his gravesite in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, GA, and it mentions his service to the US artillery. I was wondering if anyone had any information on him at all. It also mentions his father and mother's names.

William Clarendon Cuyler was born 3/17/1843 in Savannah, Georgia. He died November 2, 1869 and is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery. For reasons I don't yet know, he served in the Federal Army in the Civil War - unusual for a member of a prominent Savannah family. He was promoted to 1st Lt. in 1863; then, for "gallant and distinguished service" he was promoted to captain in October 1864; then to major in 1865. He saw action at the Battles of Winchester and Cedar Creek.
