Cuvelier in Texas

I was adopted, but have been slowly working on my origin gen the last few years.

My Cuvelier line is connected with BROCHET & HERSCHAP families who were originally from France & Belgium. They lived in Gonzales or Ottine, Gonzales County, TX in the late 1800s.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Thanks,
~~~Octavia
I have a cousin that is looking for information on a Herschap family from the Ottine, Gonzales County, TX area.
They start with Levin and wife, Sylvia DeBrook Herschap, who came from Belgium and France to Mexico and finally settled in Ottine area. Their children were: Emil - born about 1878, Frank - born about 1873 and Sophie - born about 1881(all were born before coming to Mexico); Charlie was born in Mexico about 1884; Clementine - born about 1888 in Ottine,TX and George born ? but in Ottine, TX.
Do you by any chance have any information on this family?
As a side note my great grandfather John Sebastion Huber (could by Jean Sebastien Ebert, Aubert etc.) also was from Germany/France (Alsace-Lorraine) and settled in the Ottine, TX area. You don't happen to have any information on that line?
Thank you
Kathy
I am in the process of running down all of the descendants of Levin and Sylvia (DeBrook) Herschap at this time. I am in correspondence with several of the descendants. and have quite a bit of information on the descendants.
This is not my direct line as I come from the sister of Levin Herschap, Monica, who married Frederick Brochet. My grandfather was their son, Antoine (Tony) Brochet who married Mary Cuvelier. Two of the Cuvelier children married into the Herschap family. I have information on their descendants. If the person you know who is working on this line is interested in corresponding with me. She can do it by email at ann78355@yahoo.com or by snail mail at Ann Wilkinson, Box 291, Falfurrias, TX 78355
I have done a lot of research in Gonzales County but have not done any on your line. I do have old marriage records, cemetery records and the Gonzales County History Book. I would be glad to look up any names for you.
I will be out of pocket for about two weeks. Will be back on line after the 19th. Ann
{{{ANN}}!!! So sorry I hadn't gotten back with you. I do my gen search off & on & just get sidetracked. In fact, I just found your post by total accident. I was entering some of my STOVALL line the last week or so but had recently heard from Judy Wostal, which got me thinking about my Gonzales Co lines again (BROCHET, HERSCHAP, CUVELIER, DALBOSCO, NESLONEY - etc). In fact, I just responded to an email today - she had mentioned she'd contacted you!! I had to look it up again, but refreshed my memory that your grandfather & my grandfather were *brothers* -- so, Helllloooo, cousin Ann!!!
By total accident, I was doing a general search on some of the Gonzales Co families to see if something new might turn up & I found the link to this ancestry.com board due to the NESLONEY board... So I was curious & entered a few more names while I was here. Had completely forgotten I'd posted on this board.
Have retrieved your email addy from your other post -- want to send you what I have (*most* thanks *heavily* to your very hard work in the Gonzales Co History book & also the info you'd sent me. But I have done a little fill work here & there -- so it is time to see what else might turn up.
Anyone else reading this with family who came from Gonzales Co back in the late 1800s, let me hear from you.
(Posted & emailed in case you don't catch this on the board.)
I'm not Ann, but *because* of Ann, I have quite a bit of the HERSCHAP family that lived in Gonzales Co., TX back in the late 1800s. My line so far has about 20+ CUVELIER - can't remember the Herschap/Cuvelier connection without checking though. I could send you the HERSCHAP info if you like.
I am the youngest of Edmond Herschap, Jr.'s three children, currently living in Austin. My grandfather, Edmond Herschap, was the son of Frank Herschap and Emily Cuvelier, and grandson of Levin Herschap. I have an informal family history in my possession, made up from a collection of "family memories". I don't know if you have had an opportunity to see this collection or not (possibly from another in the family) but would be glad to share it with you, if interested.
