Mathew S. Cutler's CIvil War diary

I don"t know if anyone would be interested, but I saw a copy of "Memories of Mathew S. Cutler" on eBay. It sounds like it would be very helpful if you were related. Unfortunately I'm not in this branch. Apparently this is his Civil War diary and it has a lot of his genealogy in it. I hope this is a help to someone.

I am interested in the surname LUCENA. While my research has been mostly related to NZ, I am aware that there is a direct line of descendants in Australia, originating from Henry Lancaster LUCENA (d 27 Jan 1969) and his wife Cora Naomi COOK (d 6 Aug 2002). There son Roy Lancaster LUCENA married Susan Alice GELLATLY in 1961, and they had 3 children. Know that there are other people with this name in Australia, but do not think they are connected to 'my' family.

According to David's Tombstone he was born August 1801. He was married to Lois Hopkins. My older relatives had a book, Cutlers by Naham Cutler and their thoughts according to this book was that he was the son of Jonas or a Joel Cutler. I have not been able to make that connection though. One of his children was supposedly born in Stuben city New York. I have not been able to find anything that has him connected to any siblings. You did not say anything about Nancy's parents. I just have hit this brick wall and have not been able to bust through it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ed Hummel

You mentioned elsewhere that David Cutler was born 1802 in Vermont. My 4xgreat grandmother was a Nancy Cutler, born 1806 in VT. She married Israel R. Carpenter, born in Ira, VT. Both are buried Riverside Cemetery, Ellenburg Center, Clinton Co., NY. Do you know anything else about your David Cutler, like siblings? If he and Nancy were siblings, I have her parents' names, possibly grandparents. I have mostly info on the Carpenters, Hickoks and Gibsons on that side of the family, all in and around upstate NY and VT.

If you have any info, please let me know.

Heather Gibson
Seanachaid@aol.com

I know he came to the United States in 1923 and he was originally from Russia. The family name before it was changed to Cutler was believed to be Zlotnic or Zlotnicoff(not sure of the spelling). I would appriciate any help with this line. Thank You Rochell

I'd like to know also. I think she is related to my ggggrandmother, Irene Cutler, who married 1) Hiram Wakefield in Franklin Co. in 1822; and 2)Alexander Thrall in 1828 in Franklin Co. Irene's mother said to be born in Virginia, (Census 1880) which is throwing me off. Only Cutlers I know descend from New England folks, which makes more sense to me becuz Thrall and Wakefield are from there.

William James Cutler

I am trying to find relatives of William James Cutler c1850-died 1896. He was a Police Constable in City of London Police Force. I know two of his children Henry Walter (c1885) and Albert John (c1886) were admitted to Metropolitan and City Police Orphanage, on death of Father William James, and their Mother (name unknown at present), but think there were seven other sibblings (6 boys, 1 girl, births ranging from about 1872)
The only other information I have is that William James had a Brother - William George.
If anyone has any information that may help, much appreciated. Thank you.
