Ester Gutherz/Gootar/Gootarz was born in 1888. During the summer of 1907, Ester sailed on the Batavia from Hamburg for New York where older brother, Sam Gootar, waited. Ester,age 19, a dressmaker was accompanied by her sister Chaiya,age 17. also a dressmaker. Stavishe, their home town, is 75 miles due south of Kiev, Russia, now in the Ukraine.
Ester settled in Chicago where she married and had Alice and Rose. They also married and each had a set of boys and girls.
In 1910, Ester's parents Aaron Moses and Bryna Perlutsky emigrated and settled in Chicago. Ester's siblings in Chicago included Sam Gootar, Clara Lanksy, Bertha Sutz; in Boston, New York and West New York,NJ: Frank Gootar, Ida Spector, Eva Asnes.
My research on Ester stops unless I find the surname of their husbands. The Chicago Brides Index microfilmed my the Mormons is not indexed. None of her surviving nieces and nephews have information on Ester or their cousins.
