My mother-in-law is a Cutbush. I have been doing extensive research for her here in England using a web-site called Ancestry.co.uk It is a brilliant web-site and one can get most information from it, provided that they have it. My mother-in-law's Cutbush family mostly come from Lambeth London and I have managed to go back to the early 1800's. Without birth certificates it is difficult to be sure one has the right connections because the father's names are repeated through each generation and they did have big families. There is a distant family link to Thomas Hayne Cutbush, the "Ripper suspect". It was his father (Thomas Taylor Cutbush) that emigrated to Australia in about 1867 a year after T.H.C was born (did he run away?). There is also a link to Charles Cutbush the Superintendant of Police who died (committed suicide ?) in 1896. Was this due to being embarrassed by Thomas ? Regards to Paul Cutbush in Canada who gave me this link and is my cousin by marriage.

Hi, I am distantly related to Thomas Hayne Cutbush. Who are you looking for in the Cutbush family that you have not yet found? Perhaps I can help you. Regards, Gloria

My husband's father George Arthur Cutbush was born in Northampton, and then the family moved to Canada, and that rest of the family still has people around Norwich.

Hi Gloria, Since I put this post on in 2005, I have done a lot of research into the Cutbush family. They came from Bromley Surrey originally. One of them was a superintendent in the police and he was involved with the "Ripper" investigation. I have a link with another lady of the same family and I have done as much as I can now. Thanks for your reply.

Hello and thanks for all the messages. Would you like to put the other lady with the Cutbush name and family in touch with me? My Grand Mother was a Meek but her middle name was Cutbush. She was named after Clarissa Cutbush 1815 - 1888, born and died in S.Africa.
Best regards, Gloria
