Do you have, anywhere in your family, a set of female triplets who are probably now in their late 50's or early 60's? From what my mother told me, my nana Elvey Cutbush had a brother who had triplet daughters, either born in London and moved to Australia, or who were born and raised in Aust. My nana and her siblings (6 or 7 sisters and 2 or 3 brothers?) were raised in the West End of London. My nana married Albert Cooper and moved to Canada. One of my nana's sisters was named Tootie (Dorothy?) and their mother's maiden name was Mary Marsh. That's all the info I have off the top of my head; I could find out more. Thanks so much for any info and help you can give!

Hi Chantal! Well I really don't know of any of my line moving to Australia or of any triplets but it is such an uncommon name that who knows! Do you know the name of Elvey's father?

Hi Cari-Lyn! I spoke with my mother, and she said that my great-grandpa's name (Elvey's dad) was WIlliam Cutbush. He and my great-nana (Mary Marsh) had 7 daughters and 8 sons (!!!). My mother could only remember a few of their names; of the daughters (in no particular order) there was Elvey, Maude, Mary, Muriel, and Tootie (Mum didn't know if that was short for Dorothy or not). Two of the sons were Roderick and James (went by Jim). They lived in the East End, not the West as I'd said before. Mary (who's deceased) had a husband named Jack, two daughters named Jeannie and Brenda, and two twin boys (who's names Mum can't remember). Apparently twins run in the family. I'll have to pick my Mum's brain a little more to get more info. I'm sure that my nana had some photos of her family, and perhaps there are names and dates written on the backs of those. My nana was born in 1924, but Mum couldn't say what 'rank' she was in the line of children. That's all the info I have on them as of now. By the way, I read somewhere on this site of a male Cutbush living, or who lived, in Sarnia, ON. Is that the person you'd mentioned in your e-mail? Thanks for getting back to me, hope to hear from ya soon! Chantal

Hello Chantal,
I am also a Cutbush who is curious about my surname.
As far as I know, my family come originally from London. My father, Douglas, emigrated from England to Toronto in the 50's. His father was Frederick John Cutbush who was born in East London around 1892. Frederick also had a large number of siblings but lost total contact with them during his teens.
As per the Cutbush in Sarnia, Ontario; this gentlemen contacted my father (through the phone book) about 10 years ago trying to find out if we were somehow related. At that time it became apparent that our two families came from two totally different parts of England.
Additionally, I know that there are other Cutbush Clan's in Canada. For example, there seems to be a quiote well-known family doctor in Barrie, Ontario. Also, Thunderbay, Ontario also has about 4 to 6 Cutbush's listed in that phone book.
Looking forward to any feedback, if any!
Cheers, Paul

Hi
Just spotted this message board on the web and thought I'd like to chip in.
My mothers family name was cutbush. She was born in the 1930's lived in most her life in the Ilford and Barking areas in Essex (UK).
I think my 'Cutbush' grandparents originated from Ireland - I haven't researched it very throughly but I think there is a tie in to the Marriott family (another Irish name i think) as well.......perhaps it's the same family who own the Hotels chain.
I'd be keen to hear from any one else who knows anything about this family name
Cheers

Hello Christine! Were your mum's parents named William and Mary (nee Marsh), and did she have a lot of siblings? These are some of the sibling names that I know of: Elvey (my nana, married Albert Cooper and moved to Canada), Maude, Mary (D?, married to Jack, 2 daughters and twin boys), James (went by 'Jim'), Roderick, and Muriel. From what I've been told by my mother, there were 7 daughters and 8 sons born to WIlliam and Mary Cutbush. They lived in the East End of London, within the sound of Bow's Bells (which may have defined someone as Cockney). My mother also mentioned 'Blackpool' -- whether a road or an area of town, I don't know. Please let me know if any of this is familiar or not, and thanks for your time and your post!
Sincerely,
Chantal
