MAC: If the Henry Cutaia you refer to had a wife, Rose son, Leo was born circa 1886-87, I believe he was from Campofelice di Fitalia, Palermo Province, Sicily - email me for more info l.dunne@worldnet.att.net

Hi,
I believe he was my Great-Uncle. My Great Grandmother Rose DiVarco (nee Cutaia) was one of his sisters and lived in IL. I'm not certain what their parents names were though.

I never heard of a sister Rose- but he did marry a Rose. My cousin in IL has much more info than I do, I myself only got interested in this a yr or so ago, when my daughter had a school project. Did you post anything besides this message on the site? If so I can have Laura check there & e-mail you if there seems to be a connection. I am not able to quickly lay my hands on the info she sent me, but I may have missed the sister Rose since was more interested in tracing our tree as far bakc as possible. Let me know.

Hello:
Henry Cutaia is my son-in-law's great grandfather. According to his application for social security, his father was Leonard Cuatia and his mother was Cecilia Piccola. I did not know about a brother named Sam. Henry did have a sister named Geraldine who married Peter Cirrincione. I am showing Henry was born 18 Apr 1887 and died 2 Aug 1975. He was married to Rose Sciortino. He and Rose with their son Leo show up on the 1910 Census in Chicago, Cook Co., Ill. He and Rose were divorced. By 1920 he shows up on the 1920 Census with his son Leo on the Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas Census living with a John Piccola and his family. My guess is that this John Piccola is probable a cousin. On the death certificate for one of John Piccola's daughter, Katie, it records she was born in Campofelice, Italy.

Sandy:
The information I have is Rose Sciortino was the wife of Henry Cutaia and they were divorced between 1910 and 1920. They show up on the 1910 Federal Census in Chicago, Cook Co., Ill. On the 1920 Federal Census Henry Cutaia and son, Leo, show up on the census in Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas. I would love to have any information you have on Rose. I am showing she was born around 1892 in Italy. Bob Hague

Opps! I have made a mistake. Andrea (Henry) Cutaia has a sister named Rosina born about 1884 in Messojuso, Palermo, Italy. She married Andrea Devarca on 29 Nov 1903 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. There first born son was Blacito born 15 Dec 1904. There is some question as to where Andrea (Henry) & Rosina Cutaia were born. The birth record for Blacito records that both of his parents were from Messojuso; however, the immigration record for Andrea (Henry) Cutaia records he was from Campofelice. Both villages are very close together. The parents for Andrea (Henry) Cutaia are Leonardo Cutaia and Sarah or Cecilia Piccola.
