I am looking for information about my family. I was always told that the Cushmans (Robert?) arrived in Mass. in the 1700's. I know that some of my family ended up in Oxford, Ohio, (and more recently) Pennsylvania, Indiana and Illinois. I heard once that they did not come to this country on the Mayflower, but on one of the ships that arrived a year or two later. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm just getting started on this. E-mail works better for me if possible. Thank you!

I am interested in beginning a search of my roots. My grandfather was Martin Luther Cushman who lived many years in Cincinnati Ohio. He had five children of which Thomas Austin Cushman is my father. I live in Illinois. Where do I start? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

It is correct he did not come over on the Mayflower but on a later ship. There is a book about him called Robert Cushman of Kent published by the General Society of Mayflower Descendents. His son Thomas married Mary Allerton who did come over on the Mayflower with her parents, Isaac Allerton and I am related to this Cushman

I would like to say the cushmans in Indiana seem to all be very tall and having big foreheads and large boned with degrees in engineering. Like I said before I saw a picture from the famous womens museum in Florida of that famous Cushman actress. She also has a large broad face and large forehead. There are resemblances.
