1840 Census Records William's Family (William died in 1827, Francis died unknown - prior to 1840?) 1840 Crissenberry Boone KY p280 Richard Brown Gallatin KY [m daughter Rachel] p 8 David Archer Allen IN [m daughter Ann], p 33 Benjamin Crisenberry Allen IN Perry Twp (do not have data) James Graves Boone KY [m daughter Kitty], (do not have data) (I believe David, Dulcey & Polly were in Boone KY?)
Mary Lindsay (oldest daughter of Moses) I have no record of when she died, just a note that husband Nicholas died about 1830 in Edgar Co, IL - know more? let us know! Their son, Vincent Lindsey: Clark IL (do not have data)

Vincent Cusenbary Logan KY p 64 (my notes say "1840 Logan Census p 190 - Cushenberry, Vincent 1 male 60-70; 1 female 10-15; 1 female 50-60" but I didn't write out the enumeration or note the slaves) Dudley Robinson [m daughter Elizabeth] - Logan KY pg 363 (sp Roberson) males - 1 (5-10), 1 (15-20), 1 (50-60) (Alpheus and Vincent Wickware, and Dudley), females 1 (40-50), 1 (80-90) (Elizabeth and ?); son of Dudley & Elizabeth, Henry was listed same page (he married in 1833) #448 Males 1 (20-30) Females 3 (-5); 1 (20-30) James Cushenberry Simpson KY p 193 (don't have data) Daniel Cushenberry Jackson MO (don't have data) [Rachel & husband Elisha Wickware had both died, children were with Dudley Robinson and James Cushenberry] James Oliver [m daughter Mary] - Allen KY p 53 0111001000000 - 0011001000000 Benoni Swearingen [m daughter Nancy] - Simpson KY p ? Elijalu (sic) Cushenberry Simpson KY p 193 (same page as James, do not have) [all children accounted for, Vincent has an unknown female 10-15 living with them]
Vachel Lindsay (m Moses' daughter Anna) Anna died in 1844 in Dearborn Indiana - as far as I know, they would be on the Dearborn census, which I do not have.
Zachariah Ross (m Moses' daughter Elizabeth) I have no record of her death, except that it was before Zachariah's. He died sometime after 1845 in Owen Co KY. They should be on the Owen or Henry Co census, which I do not have.
Daniel Cusenberry Allen KY p61 0000000010000-1000000100000 All children are unknown - Daniel is in the 60-70 bracket, wife Sally is either the female in that bracket or in the 50-60 bracket. I believe the female child is Sally Davis, who is mentioned in estate documents as the daughter of John Davis, probably a grandchild.
grandson Jas Cessenberry Allen KY Scottsville p 68 0020101000000-0001001000000 [I list him here because he is probably Daniel's son] James and Polly are in the 40-50 bracket. All children are accounted for, also an additional male 20-30? (it was too early for this to have been one of the Rigsby children, an ideas?)
Rachel Pully (sic) [husband John died abt 1833] Allen Co p 69 0001100000000-0001200100000 Henry Sears [m oldest dau Ann] p 77 1000010000000 1200010000000 Vincent Pullen - married 1840 in Sumner TN, may poss. be enum with mother All children accounted for if Vincent is NOT enumerated with mother. Have not found Vincent on another census, do not know when/who other children married - anyone know?
SUMMARY: Ok, it's 1840, we still have not found John (I did find out he is not the John in Wilson TN), nor the children of Daniel (except our James, who is most likely Daniel's son). Also unaccounted for are Henry and Neil, sons of Elijah (prob died early). Cannot find Elijah's Lucinda, anyone know who (if) she married?
As before, the ones where I have indicated a location without data are generally because they are verified as being in that area from tax records or some other source - it would be nice to have their census as well! If you have copies of any of the above (where I noted "do not have") I would love to have copies - will reimburse for any cost to copy & mail.

William's son DAVID was alone, head of household in Boone County KY (1 male 30 to 40). Dulcena and Polly were not with him as I had surmised. Whereabouts unknown. Williams' daughter KITTY died prior to 1834. Husband James Graves was remarried.

My name is Rick Lawrence (Not George Aveilhe who is my friend). I am trying to find info on Cynthia Cushenbury/Cooshingbury/Quesenbury etc. who was born bet. 1830 and 1865, probably in KY or TN. She died in 1929 and is buried in the Butler Cemetery in Delaware Co., OK. This woman is my wife's great grandmother. She was the 4th wife of Bartholomew "Batt" "Bat" Guinn who was b in 1832 in Polk Co., TN and died in AR about 1901 (or 1907). Cynthia's father is reported to have been a John Cushenbury but no other info is known about him. If you can help, I would appreciate hearing from you. My e-mail is rglawrence_rick@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Dawn: I recently found some information that Mary (Polly nee Carmickle) widow of William Frank Rager married Vincent Cussenberry, Logan County. In the will of William F Rager I have the impression that small children are left behind If that is the case then possibly the child mentioned in the 1840 census could be the daughter of Polly and the step-daughter of Vincent. This discovery is new to me so I have not had a chance to follow this one through. I leave for Salt Lake the end of the Jan. and intend to research this further. Also are the Wickwares you mention the ones that have a relationship to the Lowe family of Logan County. All of these families are related to me. Nancy
Mary Rager m. February 18, 1839 Vincent Cussenberry (Cushenberry) and a division was made of the real estate in which she received as her dower a 112 acre tract in Montgomery's Grove. There were 685 acres in the distribution of the real estate.

This is excellent information, thanks Nancy! I'll be excited to hear from you - my e-addy is dhills at peoplepc dot com. The only Lowe I found in my database is Flora, who married Rowland Hughes, parents of Martha Eve who married Alpheus Wickware. Is Flora yours? Even if not, I'm sure "my" Wickwares must be related to (or the same as) yours - that whole group in Logan was related.
Oh, I had Polly's maiden name as "Neal" - but I cannot find any documentation for why I have that note. Any ideas?

Hi Dawn, First I want to thank you for your post! It is very helpful to me!!! I am working on my Wickware line. My 3rd Great Grandfather is Elisha Wickware, 2nd Great Grandfather Alpheus Wickware, Great Grandfather Elijah Wickware, my Grandfather John Young Wickware, my father Clyde Franklin Wickware. I would be interested in sharing any information I have. Would love also to make family connections. Does any one have photos? A few of Elijah's family are buried at Stuckey Cemetery, Johnson, Washington County, Ark. I have a few photo's of headstones. My grandfater John and my dad Clyde are buried at Bluff Cemetery, Springdale, Benton County, Arkansas. I grew up in Springdale, Arkansas, and now live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dawn and Nancy thanks again for the info. My Flora is the same as yours Dawn, I will have to look for my information on her. I have just now started expanding my search for spouses and their families. I find all of the family history so interesting!!! How so many families are connected, and pass the names down through history. Linda Gayle Wickware Knick lindagknick@att.net
