BOARDMAN – Nicholas A. Cusano, 68, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Cusano was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a son of Angelo and Carmel (Salerno) Cusano.
He graduated from South High School in 1960, where he played the saxophone in the South High marching band.
Nicholas joined the Local No. 880 United Food and Commercial Union Workers - UFCW in June of 1966.
After working as a butcher for many years, he opened a specialty meat store
Nicholas was co-owner of P & C Meats in Girard, Ohio for 20 years.
He retired in 2009 to spend more time with his family.
Nicholas enjoyed watching football, bowling, going to the racetrack, and an occasional good cigar, but his greatest love in life was spending time with his two grandchildren.
A devoted son, father, brother and grandfather, Nicholas will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Besides his mother, Carmel Cusano of Boardman, Ohio he leaves his daughter, Carla (Ray ) Hood of Canfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Raymond and Jade Hood; and one sister, Mary M. Cusano of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his father, Angelo Cusano.
A graveside tribute for Nicholas will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Calvary Cemetery for friends and family.
