My name is Kimberly Curbelo. My father is Ray Jaime Curbelo and his brother is Jose juan Curbelo. Their father was Jose Curbelo but i have reason to believe that the name may have come from their mother's side - Amparo Curbelo. I don't know any further geology on the family. They came from Puerto Rico in the 1950's. I know i have cousins out there and it would be nice to met them, some may also have the last name Rivera but obviously that name is so popular that it may be useless to go by it. I've always been interested in the ancestery because we (deceased grandfather, grandfather and uncle) have color (caramel complexion) while no one else in the family does. If you think you may be related, please respond

Hi Kimberly, My name is Mary Jo, I am Marura's mom. I believe our Curbelo lines are different. Our Curbelo ancestors came from the Canary Islands in the 1730s and settled in San Antonio, Tx. There are many Curbelo lines to search for. I hope you connect with your line. Please let us know if we can help you. Good luck to you, Mary Jo

Hello, my name is Gonzalo Curbelo. What I know of the last name is that it is originally from Portugal but has been present for over 1000 years in Spain, mostly in the Canary Islands. My Curbelo ancestry is from the Canary Islands and then migrated to URUGUAY, South America where Curbelo is now a very common last name. The reasons for Curbelo appearing often in Uruguay and Puerto Rico is because most of the Spaniards who migrated to these two nations were from the Canary Islands.

Hopes this gives some insight into your searches...

Regards,
Gonzalo Curbelo

Thanks Gonzalo, Appreciate a history on the family name. My Curbelo line also came from the Canary Islands, they came on
to Texas, settling in San Antonio. There are many Curbelo descendants in Texas also.

Thanks very much for your information. All information helps us all. Best to you, Mary Jo

hi. i am descended from juan curbelo on my mom's side. i dont have too much information on it, but i am trying to find some more. a good book to check out (if you can find it) is "yanaguana's successor's". its about the families of canary islanders who came to texas. i believe you can request an interlibrary loan. amarillo public library has a copy available that they lend out (most places keep it under lock and key). email me at: evilwitch_5001@yahoo.com if youre interested in exchanging information.
