Hi Robin,
I am recently married and researching my husband's geneaology as well. His family name is Curatilo, and upon speaking with his relatives in New Jersey they have mentioned that they believe it was changed from Curatolo upon immigration from San Cataldo, in Sicily. My husband's grandfather used the name Samuel Curatilo, and he was married to Sarah. I do not have her maiden name handy. They are listed in the US 1920 census records under Curatilo, and first settled in Pittston, PA. I believe they immigrated in 1905 (Samuel would have been 25 at that time), and they met and married on their voyage over. They had 7 children and eventually moved to Woodbridge, NJ. If you are interested in learning more about Sam please contact me at
weinert@bsci.com and we can talk further.
My husband and I are planning a trip to San Cataldo this fall.
Best wishes,
Tammy
