I am curious to know if anyone has genealogical information about the CUPELES surname.

I have an ancestor, Francisco Cupeles y Morales who lived in Lajas, Puerto Rico around the late 1800's.

If anyone knows anything about Francisco or the Cupeles surname, please reply to this message.

Thanks,

Hi Marie,

Thanks for responding. For a moment there I thought the Cupeles family was extinct!

I am researching my family tree and have come across a Cupeles-Morales. His name is Francisco Cupeles-Morales. He is apparently from Lajas, Puerto Rico and was born before 1880. I have researched the 1920 census and did not come up with this person as living so I am assuming he passed away before 1920 or even possible 1910.

If you have any information about this person, I would love chat with you. Also, if you have any information about the Cupeles surname and where it originated, I would interested learning about this also.

Until next time.

The name you mention sounds very familiar.
I would have to ask one of my family members in P.R My grandfather was Antonio Cupeles
born oct 4,1863 in San German . I know we had relatives in Lajas . From what i know our last name is from the France. And we do have a few more Cupeles left in PR but how ever I have lost track of them .I'm sure my brother that still lives there knows more about them , then i do. This is my Number if you would like to talk. I don't believe it there is someone out there with the same surname as I Cupeles Morales .
Thank You and Good Luck !

Mari,

Your information is great! I was not sure where the Cupeles surname came from. France! Interesting. It is my understanding that many French immigrated to the San German Region.

Let's stay in touch. What is your email?
Mine is jmcancel1@juno.com

If I find out anymore information about Francisco Cupeles-Morales, I will let you know. All I know is that he lived in Lajas, Barrio Paris around 1895 and possibly was my great-great grandfather.

Take care,

Alberto, Thank you for information regarding the Cupeles family. However, I would like to know if there is more information that is specific to the Cupeles family coming from Italy.

For example: 1) How did you find out this information?
2) Do you know the names of the Cupeles brothers who came to Puerto Rico?
3) Was Cupeles the original family name? Was it Cupelli?
4) What are your sources?

Thanks again and best of luck on your research.

Alberto,

Thank you for responding so quickly. My research has brought to the mid-1800's where my ancestor Cupeles were residing in San German.

I am a descendent of Francisco Cupeles-Morales who lived in Lajas around the end of the 1800's. He fathered a child - my paternal great-grandmother, Maria Henriquez. Francisco's father and grandfather were from San German. I don't more about the Cupeles family. I would love to learn more from you. I find it interesting that the name derived from Cupelli. Where did you find this information and how far back does your family tree go back?

If you have any information about my ancestors, I would love to hear from you.
