Giuseppe ...
Did you have any relatives in the Naples area, like Marigliano?
How common a name is Cuoco?
Thanks.

hi giuseppe,
my grandfather's name was also giuseppe cuoco. he was born in ariano irpino. his wife, angelina de paola, was also born there. his birthday was dec. 17th, 1876. he had two sons, frank and anthony (my father) and two daughters...i can't remember their names right now.

he changed his name to "cook", the american translation of cuoco, along with my father, to make it easier to get work.

hope we are related and can get to know eachother better.

Since this message is the most recent one, I'm answering here. My husband's great-aunt was Josephine Lanza who married Salvatore Coco/Cuoco. I've seen it recently on the back of the photo of them spelled "Cuoco." They came to America in 1905 and first went to Pittsburgh, PA. After several moves they settled in Rochester, NY and they had 10 children. 2 of the boys, William and Joseph Coco changed their name to "Cook". William stayed in Rochester, NY and Joseph went to New Jersey. Josephine passed away in 1929 and Salvatore remarried and with second wife had 6 more children.
I do know that both Salvatore Coco and Josephine Lanza were born in Campofelice di Roccella, Sicily. Salvatore's parents were: Francisco Coco and Maria Santa DiLeonardo. His siblings were: Anthony; Agostino; Rosalia; Salvatora and Marina Coco. I also know that Anthony came to America because he was living next door to Salvatore and Josephine in the 1910 census in Pittsburgh. Does any of this ring a bell for anyone??
