I have a fair amount of Cunynghame history and one of my family is Isabella Dryburgh Cunynghame (b 1821 Linlithgow, West Lothian). I'm not sure where the Dryburgh comes from, simply because the Cunynghames are off to the side of my immediate line, but if that dateline matches what you're looking for I'm happy to help you as best I can.
Well Michele, I do have an Isabella Dryburgh Cunynghame (b 1821) in my tree but her father was William Augustus Cunynghame (b 1788) and her mother was Catherine Spen (b 1780). And my Isabella married James Cook Laing (b 1820). The names Cunynghame and Dryburgh are unusual, even for Scottish history, so you'd think there is some connection. I just don't have it. Maybe you should try this Url for more info.

Url=http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/british/cc4aq/bindcc.htm

Terry Allen - aussieterry@gmail.com

Hello Frances

I am also a direct descendant of Sir William Augustus Cunyngham, 4th Bart of Milncraig. I have done a fairly extensive search with ScotlandsPeople to try to find where James Robertson Thurlow Cunynghame died but there is absolutely nothing there, or in all of the Cunynghame sites I am aware of. You would therefore have to presume he died in Australia. If you need any further help with the Cunynghame family please let me know. I am located in Brisbane.
Hi Kerry
I'm not related to the Cunynghame's except through the Whalans my Gr-Gr Grandparents were Charles Whalan & Elizabeth Harper. James is a missing bit in the puzzle and I couldn't find any info on the Birth, Deaths & Marriages site. I've been able to find a lot on the rest of the family but James has been a mystery.
Regards Geoff

I have information about the Cunynghame family dating back to 1578 in County Ayr. The Hardinge with an 'e' is a middle name given to some of the people in the Cunynghame family. My maiden name is Cunynghame & the family is in Debrett's Peerage.

Hello Kerry,
I have just entered a lot of names into our file of Cunynghames from George and his wife Isabella Drybrough down 5 generations reasonalby complete. 6th & 7th generations need some input. Your name does not appear and neither does Melanie Steer. I was hoping to send my outline of descendency so that info missing can be added.
This is for a very good friend of ours who is a Cunynghame in his 80's. My husband is a descendant from the Whalans.
Hope to hear from you.
Rita

I have entered a family tree on a program for a friend in his 80's who is a descendant of Robert. I am trying to find out as much as possible for him. Can anyone help me with details on Roberts siblings - Robert b: 13/12/1784 (who obviously died as an infant), William b: 10/2/1789 & Isabella b: 28/10/1794, and his parents George Cunynghame & Isabella Drybrough.
I am also looking for some of the more recent births etc - in the last say 50 years to complete this tree.

Thanks

I am also researching a Cunynghame family from Scotland and was wondering if you might have some information on Robert Drybrough Cunynghame (father also Robert) b.c. 1784. He was married prior to coming to Aust. in 1823 and then married twice more and had a total of 9 Australian children. Please contact if you can help. Regards, Melanie - Sydney, Australia
