Looking for the correct spelling of one of my great grandmother's husbands. He preceeded her in death, then she remarried a guy by the name of Unknown Simpson. She died around 1950. Every just called "Cundy" Sam, but can't remember if that was really his name or not, and no one ever remembers seeing his last name written.

I have family members in Providence, Rhode Island, James Cundy,
his father was Warren Cundy. I don't know this branch
of the family well, but it is a huge family in Rhode Island.
My mother and the mother of James Cundy are first cousins
Good Luck

My grandfather's name was Samuel Cundy. He lived in Detroit until about 1956. He was married to someone whose name we have lost. Where was this man from? Where did he work? I do know that he married a woman with one daughter. But that is the extent of my information

Would love to compare notes with previous reply re: Samuel Cundy in Detroit. Lissie Barbara Keelhar may well have been his wife. Lissie was married to a Sam Cundy, in Detroit. She actually had four children: Charles aka "Charlie", Frederick aka "Fred", Vera Winifred aka "Winnie" and Gladys aka "Glad." Lissie died about 1950. When did your grandfather's unknown wife die?

That last message was posted byme, not by the name there. My grandfather was Sam Cundy and died in 1958 in anursinghome here in Ohio. I know that his previous wife was contacted when he was found wondering the streets of Detroit in 1952 or 53 and she would not take responsibility for him as they were divorced. My grandfather was from Cornwall England, worked at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Michigan.

My Grandmother was Phylis Edith Cundy.
She was born in Norwich Conn. is 1923 and died in Newport Rhode Island in 1968. I have done research on my Grandfather, Sydney J. von Dembowski's side, but would like to start researching the Cundy side. I believe my Grandmother's mother was a Mercier.

Any info you have would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Michael

My mother Ellen is Phyllis's sister. Clara Mercier was their mother. She Feb. 21, 1935 in Providence RI. Cause of death was TB. James Cundy then married Marion Farrell Aug 17 of 1935 and lived in east providence. She left James and her and her son with James (donald) moved to Maine, Monhegan Island where Donald passed in mid 2005 or so. James then remarried a Theresa after Marion divorced him. Theresa was a Picard. They had 3 children. Aurthur who died at 19 of a gastric bleed. John who died at age 3 of a fall from a porch where he strangled himself, and Diane who is alive and married William Hubbard and lives in Billington Connecticut. James Cundy died in 1968 or thereabouts. He had asthma. He was found in Providence at the wine alley where it is suspected he froze to death. I can remember James from when i was very young because he lived with us for a short time before he died. I don't know if you know this info or if it's helpful. I keep in touch with Joanne on Facebook, I guess she is your aunt? Liz Viall Dyer, Block Island, RI
