Once I finally locate any info on Earl Edsell's Parent and/or Margaret Edsell's parents, I will happily share! I just absolutely have not been able to find a thing. However, in speaking with my grandpa and my uncle Chuck, I have learned that Earl Edsell worked as a fireman with Engine Co. #7 in Bardstown, KY....

One thing I learned early on as I was growing up was that my grandpa, the Charles Edsell you refer to as still living, was VERY SECRETIVE about everything. Just getting him to tell me that his father's name was Earl was like pulling teeth. However, I must have caught him at a tender moment, as he handed down to me, an oil painted photo of Margaret Edsell, Earl's wife. She looks just like my grandpa.

"Babe" or James, as his real name was, used to visit my grandma and grandpa when I was little (I'm 29 now.) I remember him from the horrible toupe he wore. Babe owned a bar on the "7th Street Strip" in Louisville, called "Bajens." His wife's name was Jenny, I think, thus, Babe + Jen = Bajens.

Most all of the Edsells have died reletively young, therefore, my grandpa has sort of been the exception. He's just turned 81 in September of 2003. I wasn't born until 1974, so by then, several of my grandpa's siblings were gone, and the rest passed when I was very young, so other than Babe, I don't remember any of them. I do know that Margaret, our great-grandma passed while my mom was pregnant with me, as she was going to do laundry at her house when it happened, or something to that effect.

I have a few more stories if you're interested. Feel free to contact me. mail@countrynook.com

From what I can tell from the different census readings and postings by others researching Elias Cundiff who married Nancy WILLIET, their son Felix Cundiff married Elizabeth BRAY. Austin Ivo Cundiff was the son of Felix Cundiff and Elizabeth BRAY, and from Austin's WWI Draft Registration we know was born 08 May 1897 in Hardin Co., KY. Also on the WWI Draft Reg., Austin Ivo Cundiff list's his father as Felix Cundiff b. in New Hope, KY. New Hope is located in Nelson Co., KY.

According to a tree posted on Ancestry.com by Gregory and Cathy Roberts: 1. Maurice Elias CUNDIFF was born 2 MAR 1830, and died BEF. 27 MAY 1914. He was the son of 2. Shadrack CUNDIFF and 3. Sally STILLWELL. He married Nancy WILLIETT 18 NOV 1851 in New Hope, Nelson County, Kentucky, daughter of Thomas WILLET and Nancy ?. She was born 13 JAN 1832 in Nelson County, Kentucky, and died 27 MAY 1914 in New Hope, Nelson County, Kentucky. She was buried 28 MAY 1914 in New Hope, Nelson County, Kentucky.

There are quite a few Bray's on the same page.

I am also looking for a son whom I believe to have been of this line. Benjamin D. Cundiff born 1869. I am trying to find marriage information as I believe he married Mina Jane Pierce. They would be my 2nd great grandparents.
Researching this line has been most difficult! Any assistance would be helpful!
Thank you for your time, Michele

Hey, I'm from Hodgenville KY and 33 years old. I was goofing off on google and saw your post. The names you mentioned do not ring a bell. My grandfather was General Robert W. Cundiff. Our whole family is from Hodgenville and my grandmother is a BIG family tree buff. Email some more specifics and I'll see if I can help.

My line of Cundiff's lived in Hodgenville, Ky. I am in the line of William B. Cundiff (1825-1910) married to Sarah Ann "Sallie". I do not know either of their parents. Their children were Louisa, Lucinda, Lousiana, William Henry, Thomas Malin, Mary Elizabeth, and Sarah Catherine. If you live in Hodgenville and your Grandmother has information on these Cundiff's, would you email me at
