John William Cundiff's 1926 marriage license from Union, South Dakota lists him as "divorced". John's grandson wasn't even aware that his grandfather was married in between first wife Eunice and third wife Carrie, so I really don't have much info whatsoever on that period of his life. We can be sure though that they were married because in the 1920 census, Ettalee Bell is listed as living with John and Olive. Ettalee was John's second child with his first wife, she was married for a very brief time to a Paul Bell.
I've found nothing on John and Olive's daughter Chloe/Cloey other than the 1920 census. I'm guessing David (Jesse) was adopted by the Weaver family. Again, the circumstances surrounding this period are a mystery to me.

I have an actual record (will, marriage bond, family bible) of a link between each Cundiff man in Wise's line (and my line, he's my g-grandfather's brother) all the way back to Richard the Immigrant, except for the link between Wilson and Isham. Here's a little info about Wilson from a cousin of ours who still lives in Franklin County....
"Wilson [Nelson] Cundiff, born ca 1800, the son of Isham and Polly (Owens) Cundiff. Jesse was listed as his father on his death certificate. He married Rhoda Hale in Franklin County, Virginia 26 February 1832. Rhoda was born circa 1809, the daughter of John and ? Hale. Wilson died 12 August 1880 of paralysis at the age of 80. His death was reported by his son Giles. Rhody died 18 July 1889 from a fall. Her death was reported by her daughter Lydia Dudley.
Wilson purchased a 71-acre farm near Robertson’s line on the road to Blackwater River at Kemp’s Ford."
The Jesse (Jessee) Cundiff mentioned above would have been the son of John Henry Cundiff, Revolutionary War vet and Elijah's brother. This would make him Isham's cousin. All signs indicate however that this was a mistake on his death certificate and Isham is indeed Wilson's father. Personally, I'd like to confirm one way or another, but either way it's the same line...

Thank you. This probably covers things to the degree I need. Olive's great-grandfather Valentine Branson was a brother of my great great great grandfather Thomas Branson, so it's a distant connection.
Olive was the only (longterm-surviving) child of Frank Meeker (Benjamin Franklin Meeker)'s first marriage, and she is not well covered in the genealogies put together by descendants of Frank's second wife, Mary Ellen Gray. Like you, I lose track of her after the 1920 census. Having the detail of the divorce is good to know. I will make a note in my archive that Olive probably wasn't dead in 1930, and maybe traces of her will turn up in further research.

Want to correct Wise's pedigree as there are some errors on it that I have discovered since I originally posted it. James Cundiff is WRONG, it is unknown who Richard Cundiff the immigrant's father was, yDNA testing matches indicate that Richard Cundiff came from Somerset County near Bath, or southwest England/Wales rather than Lancashire County, and he is related to men with surnames Cundict, Condit, Cunditt (variants of Conduit) and NOT related to men with surname Cunliffe.
Cundiff men pedigree for Wise Cundiff:
1. Richard b.c. 1640, England, Somerset Co or Wales, d. 1723 Northumberland Co. Virginia 2. Richard b. 1669, Northumberland Co, Virginia, d. 1726 Northumberland Co. Virginia 3. Isaac b. 1700, Northumberland Co, Virginia, d. 1744 Prince William Co, Virginia 4. Richard b.c. 1724, Northumberland or Lancaster Co, Virginia, d. 1774 Bedford Co, Virginia 5. Elijah b. 1759, Fauquier Co, Virginia (Fauquier was formed from Prince William Co one month before Elijah was born, his older siblings were all born in Prince William Co although it was actually the same place), d.c. 1850, Bedford Co, Virginia 6. Isham b. 1779, Bedford Co, Virginia, d. 1860 Franklin Co, Virginia 7. Wilson b. 1803, Bedford Co, Virginia, d. 1880, Franklin Co, Virginia 8. George Thomas b. 1848 Franklin Co, Virginia, d. after 1905 9. George Wiseman b. 1883 Callaway Co, Missouri, d. 1970, Boone Co, Missouri

I have obtained more info on John Cundiff and Olive Meeker. Specifically, I have a photo of Olive holding Virgil David Cundiff (birth record lists Virgil David Cundiff, aka Jesse Cundiff aka David Virgil Weaver... I will call him David as it seems that's what he went by) as an infant in 1919, and one photo of Olive as an older woman, one photo of John/Olive's children Chloe and David together (attached), and two photos of David alone. I also have photos of Chloe and her father John, and her half-brother Arthur. Also have two letters that Chloe wrote to my grandmother (her sister-in-law) from 1992.
David was married twice in his short life (1919-1945), and he had two sons. They are both living, I believe one uses surname Cundiff and one uses Weaver (genetically they are both Cundiffs). Chloe was married several times but never had children, she died in 2002 aged 90 years.
