Hello:

My great grandfather Joseph Cundell came to Canada sometime in the 1800's (I don't know what year). Over the years the spelling of the last name may have changed. He was married (I don't know if in Canada or in England/Ireland) to an Ann Code. Joseph Cundell had a son, Thomas, born in Canada -- most likely in or near Ottawa around 1866.

If anyone thinks there may be a connection between Cundell/Cundall please let me know. Thank you. Anne Schaetzke

Their is a connection between the names. It is said in a history book of the name Cundell that the father would be a Cundell and his son would slightly change the name to say Cundall and so on. I use the above as reference and it is not gospel. The fact of sons and sons of sons changing a few letters is true

My relatives Cundall were also called Cundell, they came from Yorkshire to Manchester and it seems to have changed then (early 1900s)
