GRANVILLE: A memorial service celebrating the life of Irene H. Cunard, 94, of Granville, Ohio will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Heath Church of Christ, Fireside Room, 1331 Hebron Rd., Heath, Ohio.
A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville, OH. (Licking County)

Irene passed away, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

She was born in 1920 to the late, Rodney R. and Stella Hager in Barnesville, Ohio. (Belmont County)

In 1957, Irene and her husband, George Cunard, established Cunard's Jewelry and Gifts in Granville. When George passed away in 1981, Irene was the sole proprietor with intentions of retiring in two years. Twenty-two years later at the age of 82, Irene retired in 2002 after 45 years in business.
She cherished vacation trips to Connecticut and Montana to spend time with family.

In her spare time, Irene enjoyed playing bridge, reading and planting flowers.
She was an excellent knitter who hosted a knitting club in her home once a month.
Irene was also an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed women's basketball.
One of the highlights of each year was attending sporting events with daughter Lynn to cheer on the Denison University Big Red.
Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Irene was a member of Heath Church of Christ, Granville Fellowship, and a long-time member of Village Guild of Granville.
Surviving are her son, Tim Cunard and his wife, Joanne; daughter, Lynn Schweizer and her husband, Bob; grandchildren, Michael Schweizer and his wife, Allie, Amy Schweizer, and Tess Cunard; niece, Susan Bullock; and nephew, Mike Stubbs.

In addition to her husband George, Irene was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Stubbs. Memorial contributions may be made to Granville Fellowship, P.O. Box 257 or Granville Township Fire Department, P.O. Box 202, Granville, OH 43023.
