Elizabeth appears to have been the daughter of:

426. ELIZABETH ANN (“ELIZA”) FLEWELLING
d/o Thomas and Elizabeth (Griffin) Flewelling first of North Castle, Westchester Co., New York; lastly of Oak Point, Greenwich Parish, Kings Co., New Brunswick

Elizabeth Ann Flewelling b. ca. 1766, d. Indiantown, Portland Parish, Saint John Co., NB 29JAN1852 aet. 86, bur. Anglican Cem. Saint John, NB, m. Robert Cunard (b. Norriton Twp., Montgomery Co. (then Philadelphia Co.), Pennsylvania ca. 1749, d. Indiantown, Portland Parish, Saint John Co., NB 18DEC1818 aet. 69, m. 1st New York 13MAR1781 Elizabeth Travis (d. ca. 1783, sans pro.)), s/o John and Ann (Rogers) Cunard. H. A. Cody identifies Elizabeth and her husband, but he also (incorrectly) assigns Ezekiel Flewelling, son of Caleb, as a son of Thomas.
In, Indiantown: 1863-1865, (Daniel F. Johnson, CG(C), “Generations”, issue 31, MAR1987, pp. 17-27, the New Brunswick Genealogical Society, Fredericton, NB, 1987), Johnson points out that Indiantown is:

Situated in Portland Parish, County of St. [sic] John, Indiantown is bounded by Marble Cove of the St. [sic] John River above the Reversing Falls. Regretfully, the census records of 1851, 1861 and 1871 are missing.

This points out one of the main difficulties in determining Flewellings in the County of Saint John, the missing census returns. What Johnson offers is extracts from the Assessment Books of 1863 - 1865 in the Archives and Library section of the New Brunswick Museum in Saint John. In particular, Johnson referred to the assessment list of 30SEP1863, the assessment list of 4JUL1865 and to, Hutchinson’s Saint John Directory: 1863-1864. Some Cunards in this list are:

NAME 1863 1864 ADDRESS
Charles H. Cunard yes yes Main and Bridge
Enos G. Cunard no yes Bridge and bridge
John Cunard yes yes Marble Point
Robert Cunard yes yes Marble Point
Thomas Cunard yes yes Main and Bridge
William Cunard yes yes Main and Bridge

It is difficult to determine exactly whom these persons are, although it may be assumed that they are descendants of Robert and Eliza (Flewelling) Cunard. In particular, the name, “Enos G.”, (living on Bridge Street, by the bridge) is evocative of Eliza’s brother, Enos Flewelling.
In, Inhabitants of Portland - 1814, compiler unknown, from the White Papers in the Ganong Room of the New Brunswick museum, Saint John, (“Generations”, issue 31, MAR1987, p. 28, the New Brunswick Genealogical Society, Fredericton, NB, 1987), is an assessment list wherein Joshua B. Travis, a constable of the Parish of Portland, was ordered 27JUL1814 to assess each head-of-household £50 for maintenance of the Poor of the Parish. Amongst those listed were:

Robert Cunnard
John Cunnard

apparently living close by as they were listed sequentially in a non-alphabetical (i.e., door-to-door) listing.
Sharon Dubeau (New Brunswick Loyalists, Generation Press, Agincourt, ONT, 1983, p. 37) writes that Robert was b. ca. 1749, d. 1818, and had a son, Abraham. D. G. Bell (Early Loyalist Saint John: 1783-1786, New Ireland Press, Fredericton, NB, 1983, p. 193) gives information which suggests that Robert was married when he came to New Brunswick in 1783, but that his wife died before MAY1784, and that they had no children.
Tim Mullins, in an application for the Port Roseway Association, wrote:

Cunard, Robert. Carpenter. Came alone. He was born in Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (then Philadelphia County). Eldest of three sons and two daughters of John & Ann Rogers Cunard. His brothers Benjamin and Henry chose CONRAD for their spelling and their lines have run out malewise. He had a sister Sarah who married Enoch SUPPLEE. They, too, were Loyalists and she died at Saint John on 21 November 1825; all left Philadelphia in 1780. Robert Cunard married Elizabeth Travis in New York on 13 March 1781. She came with him to Nova Scotia aboard the "Grace" and he was granted land in Parr Town (Saint John.) She died the first winter without issue. Robert was tried and convicted in absentia of high treason in Pennsylvania in 1784. He returned in 1807 to get his inheritance. Robert Cunard married 2nd Ann Eliza Flewelling and had a family comprising Charles, John, Thomas, Mary, Margaret, Robert, Sarah, Nancy and Elizabeth Clarissa. Ann Eliza, his 2nd wife, died 29 January 1852 at 86 years of age, in Indian Town, buried Church of England Cemetery, Saint John. The CUNARD name was in the Saint John City Directories until at least 1946. Robert was a first cousin to Abraham Cunard, whose brother, Jonathan was a carpenter also, and he returned to New Jersey and had an enormous CUNARD posterity there. Abraham settled in Halifax, had 8 sons and 2 daughters, one son being Samuel who started the Cunard Steamship Lines. Samuel's brothers Joseph, Edward & Henry were in the ship building business for a while at Miramichi. Abraham has often been erroneously called a son of Robert, but was a son of Samuel Cunard, a brother to Robert's father, consequently a first cousin of Robert. His dates are 1755-1824. Robert CUNARD died at Indian town, St. John, on 1812/1818 aged 69. His place of burial is not known; too early for the Church of England grounds where later family members repose. He was afflicted with palsy in later years. It has been very difficult to find posterity -- perhaps most of the men were bachelors -- but it seems certain there are a few descendants from female lines such as Dalton, Jordan, Reynolds and Johnston. He was recommended by Mr Thomas Mullins.

Erik P. Conard, commenting on the above summary, wrote (27NOV2001):

[The] lion's share of the work presented was mine, but no credit given, and I do not know who got it, where or when. It is somewhat irksome in that it makes it difficult to compare research when one is lifted, without documentation, and you do not know whether it was yours or simply corroborated what you have. I noted some original words included in the Robert presentation...indicating to me it was verbatim from my work. Abe Cunard was a first cousin to Robert. Robert did come to NS a married man and it appears she died the first winter, no issue.

This gives the Cunard family (with additional material submitted to the IGI by Erik P. Conard) as:

1. JOHN CUNARD m. ANN ROGERS
11. ROBERT CUNARD b. Norriton Twp., Montgomery Co. (then Philadelphia Co.), Pennsylvania ca. 1749, d. It appears that there is a generation gap between Elizabeth and her daughter Stella Jane Reynolds.
She would be over 60 years if age at her birth.
Cheers

Not only that, but it is questionable as to whether Stella JAne was even a granddaughter of James Valentine and Elizabeth Clarissa (Cunard) Reynolds.
Some additional notes to that effect are below.

Thomas.

It seems to me unlikely that Stella would be a daughter of Clarissa and James, and that there must be a generation between. This is especially true as when she was married 12JUN1856, Mary A. Reynolds was their youngest daughter. When Stella Reynolds m. Indiantown 19DEC1877 Otty H. Bagnell she was given as a d/o Jesse Reynolds. The 1871 census of Portland Parish, Saint John Co., NB is not included in the Canada Archives web site. It exists on microfilm, it is just that, for some strange reason, the Canada Archives has chosen to omit it.
The Saint John, "The Daily Sun", 25MAR1897, p. 2, had an item:

"About one o'clock yesterday morning the death occurred of Jesse Reynolds, the oldest resident of Indiantown, in the 82nd year of his age. Mr. Reynolds died at his residence, Hammond Street. He had been ailing only a fortnight with bronchitis, followed by las grippe. The deceased gentleman was born at Indiantown in 1815, his father being the son of one of the Loyalists and the first British male child born in New Brunswick. On the river, upon which Mr. Reynolds was all his life employed, chiefly in lumbering, he was well and favourably known, also in his native city. He was at one time captain of the steamer Malden, and on of the pioneer towboatmen on the river. Mr. Reynolds leaves a widow and three children and six grandchildren."

This raises the question as to whether Jesse was a s/o James Valentine and Elizabeth Clarissa (Cunard) Reynolds. If they were married in 1813 and if Jesse was born in 1812, then this seems unlikely. Also, if Jesse's father was the first Loyalist born in NB, then he would likely have been b. in 1783 and not 1784. It would appear that Jesse's father may have been James Valentine Reynold's older brother and Stella was neither a daughter, nor granddaughter, of James Valentine and Elizabeth Clarissa (Cunard) Reynolds. It appears to be unknown whether James had such an older brother.

Hi Thomas
I believe the math works out if we use the dates from the newspaper. If Jesse was 82 in 1897 then he was born in 1815 -two years after thee marriage of Clarissa Elizabeth Cunard age 21 and James Valentine Reynolds age 31.
